Yes, the California stop is software not mechanical, the latest software will improve if not cure it, success rate seems high, same day service from GAP, they will need your vin and you can apply for it on their website. There are other improvements besides the California stop issue.

Shouldn't really be a issue with a my09, but it is always best to have the latest software available. Has it been main dealer serviced as they should do this as part of the service Whistle
I would give it more mileage to bed in and adapt to your driving style, drive gently for the first 500 miles, it is normal for it to be clunky after resetting adaptions, I don't think you have any problems to worry about. Thumbs Up

It’s a nightmare as some people I have asked on here tell
Me it should be fine as soon as u have it done where most people say it needs to learn and starts making u think if I do have a problem

The bloke who done it did say that it could take 50 miles or 500 miles every box and ecu is different and not too worrie but if I am worried to take it back to him any time

Well took it back today and the gearbox is fine
But prop shaft has a hell of a lot of play andso does rear diff

Well had look underneath couldn’t see any play in diff there seems to be play in rear driveshafts uv joints though and propshaft center bush/bearing is well gone as is split and everything don’t see any play in prop though

Well after a lot of searching think I have solved it one rear tyre only had 12 psi while the others had 44
Pumped it up and apart from a slight rear backlash when slowing down then accelerating again the box is 1000 times better thought it may have been a coincidence but today started getting abit of harsh changes checked tyre and only 22 psi in it (slow puncher) pumped it up again and is all good again
I cannot beleave a low pressure tyre has such a impact on the driving of a discovery 3
Now just wondering if it’s worth looking for the slight backlash or just in joy it now and leave it alone

Play in flanges is quite normal as is the little clunk, the centre bearing rubber is dead though.
New prop is the best answer.

But are tyre pressures that critical
As it’s really clunky as soon as 1 wheel drops by 15 psi

Yea it’s being fixed Tuesday as it’s nearly new
And every where I searched say you have to change the pair on the axel to the same make wear diameter and pressure or it causes big problems on a 4x4

A bit of common sense needs to be applied James. Yes you are correct in that renewing one tyre, when the others are worn out would create a larger difference in rolling radius than putting a new tyre on when the others are at 6mm for example.

A few mm difference is not going to bother the 4x4 system.

It’s true that a bad or partly flat tyre can cause the DSC to kick in when you don’t expect it.
