Transmission fault

Hi, I'm hoping I can get some advice regarding my 2008 lr3hse. The other day I started to lose drive on downshift under braking; the d icon on the instrument cluster screen would disappear and reappear after setting off in sport or manual select. Now I have lost drive completely in normal mode, but switching to sport makes it work fine. This afternoon a transmission fault warning came on the dash, but the car still drives in sport mode and manual select. The physical transmission is still smooth and not missing gears so am I looking at a software upgrade issue? If so where can I get it done and at what cost? Im at 109,000 miles and have read thatyou can't get updates at this mileage? Help! Any helpful advice welcome.

Thanks to you both for your replies, that's a relief. Only been an owner since August this year and tried my utmost to get one that was well looked after, which is a bit of a minefield when you are new to the brand and none the wiser to many issues. When this happened I was panicking a little then saw this website. The step by step guide is great; I'm chasing up the parts and hopefully will have a go at doing it this weekend. Hopefully that should sort it out. Thanks again!
