good day and HAPPY NEW YEAR to ALL of u..... and yr land rovers.
just came back from holidays in swiss alps, done more then 2600 km
in 10 days, and the car was perfect.. BUT, all of a sudden one day
when i took her frm outside ski parking, after a couple of miles
b o n g, and the display says TRANSMISSION FAULT, then another bong,
and HDC FAULT, AND SUSPENSSION, then i stoped the car and done
a restart of the car and everything was fine..BUT, thereafter when i tried
to switch frm (D) to (SPORT) or to (COMMAND SWIFT), some times had
the bong and only the (transmission fault) message, done the restart
and gone..and then bong again.
now in greece have pushed this morning to have this transmission fault
again but in vain the car is perfect again ???
the teperature was abt -7 to 2 deg celsious,
have not called the dealer yet as wouldlike to hear yr opinions first in order to be prepaired to what will ask frm him.
so yr prompt ideas will be highly appreciated
thanks/regards
Jacob

Possible wheel speed sensor fault - did you also get the ABS warning light on?
Sometimes dirt or water ingress around a wheel speed sensor can temporarily cause this issue

thks very much 10fc, yes the ABS warning light was on BUT only the
first day tht this happend...then all the other days had only the transmission fault ??
dirt sure could be there due to a lot of salt on the roads.
plsd to hear
thks/regards

sounds like 2 seperate issues - the wheel speed sensor fault will cause all manner of light to come on, basically, the signal is sent across the high speed CANbus by the ABS controller, without a valid speed signal the transmission and suspension systems will go into a 'safe' mode (but show a fault) as will the HDC and special programmes as these also require wheel speed information to function correctly. It's also possible that an engine control module calibration issue relating to the EGR valve and MAF sensor is causing this at low temperatures - this can be discounted if you have had the enhancement programme carried out or have a VIN after 6A353440
The transmission fault on its own whilst driving is a competely seperate issue and will require dealer intervention with IDS to determine the DTC's stored

I have the same problem when going slowly:
first
transmission fault warning
or
suspension fault
and then the complete christmass tree lights up....
Happened contineously once when accompaning a fork lift trruck (10km/h) and once when queing. Both in temperatures around 0°C

Jacob, if you've had the enhancement carried out, then it's likely to be a transmission sensor causing the error message - any other system would cause 'cascade' faults in other systems...
never tried the FBH with the ATCU 'off' - although as it controls the FBH it's likely that this is the cause
Capt. Sugar, same as above - a cascading fault is likely to have a wheel speed sensor as the root cause - although there are many other possibilities including the EGR / MAF issue

10for cash,
thanks for the advise!
I haven't had the enhancement program done yet. Hope it will disappear afterwards. In general the car is reliable. Restarting always clears the faults... so i don't make an issue from it.

if the temp is low, then it's likely to be the EGR / MAF calibration - as you say, it's not really an issue - but still a pain in the @rse all the same

it was cold and at very slow speed.

can be done by the dealer or what ???
plsd to hear

EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation (valve)
MAF = Mass Air Flow (sensor)
The issue was identified by TSB LA303-005 (23/01/06) and is a software download - also incorporated into the A034/036 enhancement programme
Note that this relates to cascaded faults only, due to an incorrect engine torque calculation signal being transmitted across the high speed CANbus
Singlesystem faults (like transmission) will not be caused by this
