Transmission Fault

Twice in the past month I have had 'Transmission Fault' appear in central panel when switching from Reverse to Drive - appears for about 3 seconds, one bong, no warning lights, then disapears
Going to dealers on Thursday - anybody had anything similar?
Now Golf GTI PP, 7 speed DSG.

Had you just started the car? I started to get this message when starting the car, the dealer had to charge the battery, but unfortunately after a week these messages came back and a couple of days later the battery died all together. Had to have a new battery, but since then no more messages at start up.

THis does often seem to co-incide with a low battery in my experience. BUt if this happens after you've been driving, must mean a trip to the stealer for you.

For example last week the D3 stood for about 5 days 'cos Mrs Baben was out of town, and when I started it up on Saturday I get the same "transmission fault, traction reduced" alarm. Let her idle for a few minutes to charge the battery and then tried again, fault gone. This has happened abut 5-6 times with us.

hello there..

had (and most probably still have) the same issue, but only when the car was on the move
on some low temeratures around 0 dec, and when pushed the gear frm auto to command swift.

went to dealer which said tht sould be a switch fault, and also adjusted the gear cable
as there was mud the the entrance to the gear box which afected the (D) to work properly.

tested the car everything was fine however had once again this ''bong'' and message, while was on
the mountain with snowing around and low temperatures. switched off the car fr two minutes
then all o.k, and hv no problem since then..still testing.

regards
Jacob
