Don't know what you think, but I wish that the auto transmission indicator would display what gear you are in as soon as you switch to sport mode instead of only displaying the gear then you manually shift. I find that I often don't know whether to shift up or down when I initially go to manually change gears. '06 TDV6 SE AUTO BUCKINGHAM BLUE

Maybe I don't understand this, but perhaps you are not understanding the basic mechanisim of the thing.
You have a 6 speed transmission. In normal Drive mode, at higher speeds, you are in 6th gear usually, but just see the D in the message area.
In Sport mode, several things happen: the tranmission will shift down to 5th gear, or stay in 5th gear longer. or kick down another gear or two under hard accelleration.
So if you are tooling down the freeway, and shift to Sport mode, assume you are in 5th gear, and then count up or down from there.
Also, does it really matter what gear you are in when in sport mode? You either want more ooomph, or less, and shift down or up accordingly, regardless of what gear you are currently in.

A simple row of red leds numbered 1 -6 and the corresponding led lights up whether in auto, sport or CS mode would be good.
I think the 911 Porker has this on its Tiptronic system.
That's it Gareth, something simple like that would be nice.'06 TDV6 SE AUTO BUCKINGHAM BLUE

Totally agree, I would expect to see it in fiture builds as it seems to me a logical step
This feature was actually shown in the (original version) owner's manual However, like many of the "features" it turned out to be non-existent

The computer knows which gear the d3 is in, it has the ability to display the gear after flicking up or down gear, so its sounds like it just needs a computer "enhancement" to provide that view as soon as sport is selected. Any volunteers to do a bit of programming?2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.
I just put mine into sport mode and then change the TR to one of the offroad settings. This displays the gear
Then, when I change the TR back to normal, the gear number indication stays on! I don't know if it's meant to though!Have a nice day!

Has the TR not caused the transmission to go into Command Shift (ie manual) in which case the gear selected is meant to be shown - what happens when you then go to Auto again?
