Transmission selector position illumination

My D3 2005 HSE V8 has taken to keeping both the "P" and "R" icons illuminated when it's selected to "P". I think this is only a recent thing and probably is a sensor that has slid on it's adjustment.

Has anyone else had this, or do they know how to get to the adjustment if indeed that is the cause of my problem? Seems fairly insignificant but it may cause the car to think it's in "R" when in fact it is selected to "P" and hence not deactivate or activate security or other stuff going on in its brain.

Thanks for any feedback.

I had this happen on my '05. Ended up changing out the whole selector mechanism.
As you say, it doesn't seem to affect anything but I thought it was better to safe than sorry.
Got the block and cable (one unit) from TLO for @£150 if I remember correctly.
