Transmission "whistle" after oil change - any ideas welcome

Hopefully someone can help shed some light on this issue.
I changed all of my oils the weekend on my 54 plate manual D3 - 145000 miles
I can only explain this noise as a low pitched whistle or whine when accelerating in all gears
It only happens when accelerating gracefully between 1000 and 1500 rpm
It can only be heard with the radio and climate control turned off
If accelerating hard, i either cant hear it, or it is not doing it.
Perhaps i am being anal ? At least i thought so at first.
I then also noticed the front wheels "skipping" when pulling into parking's, basically when the steering is on full lock... after reading on the forum i saw others have had this "skipping" issue after an oil change as well, the transmission feels tight to me, almost as if there is a very slight brake binding.

A mate from work, and his mate (thanks Matt and Stew) bought a very expensive recall / diagnostics kit about a decade ago (cant remember what it was called now Confused ) which we used this evening to re-calibrate the transfer case clutches.
It felt immediately better afterwards, the "skipping" has gone but i still have this weird noise...
The noise is also there in low range
Noise stops if i put the clutch in, also stops if decelerating in the same rev range when it is making noise.
I used all the right oils including the special transfer case oil.
Any ideas welcomed
TIA
