What the X5 needs IMHO is a black pack to tone done the grill if you order a dark coloured car. Obviously, silver or white would hide the bling chrome monster but I would want one in dark blue or grey.2014MY Discovery

If you go for the D5 and carry passengers regularly in the middle row, you’ll get complaints. Thanks to the countless issues with our Landmark, I’ve spent quite a lot of time with loan D5’s and without exception rear passengers complain about how uncomfortable and flat the seats are.
A couple of weeks ago I used my Land Rover Experience voucher and as I had a couple of guests, I sat in the back of their D5. The complaints previously are justified. The seats are awful, and of course there’s no “stadium” seating as in the D3/D4.
The seats are so low down that there’s no leg support.

Would say Landrovers in general suffer less depreciation, though not sure that is case with D5, but still should be better than the Mercs and BMW.
Having had a couple of D5's on loan certainly did not think finish was as good or durable as in D4 and then the questions remain over their engines, especially if looking to keep more than the warranty period.
At least Landrover have unlimited mileage volvo only 60 k or 80k for 4 yrs if that is a factor. Volvo has free mapping updates and free volvo on call service if serviced at main dealer after third yr.D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

Your comment about the middle row seats is getting to me as I have two tall teenagers....

When I went to look at a D5 I went with my daughters 16 and 11 at the time. Both were about 5'6''.
This was the grand reveal so lots of bods from LR Solihull were there. Both girls sit in the back and both commented on how odd / uncomfortable the seats felt. One of the LR bods said they were exactly the same as the D3/4. My eldest said they weren't and asked him how many miles he had done in the back of a D3? A few hundred he said, well my daughter said she'd done over 100,000 in the back and the D5 seats were not the same and not as comfortable. Also my youngest, who often sits in the third row, got into the back of the D5 and commented how it wasn't as easy as the D3 and that the view was rubbish.
It was their input as valued users, the boot shape and lack of split tail gate that told me the D5 wasn't for me. Interestingly, I know of one parent at school who changed their D5 for a D4 because her kids found the seats uncomfortable. You need to try it yourself, they are different to the D4 for sure.
I had a couple of typical Australians with strong opinions in the back for 2,000 miles around France and they had a lot to say but not about the seats!

Look if you don’t want one or the price puts you off, no problem, but there’s pages on individual posts of how people don’t like this or that. A lot of needless negativity mostly from people who’ve never driven one or just had one for a day etc. It’s getting a bit like the Brexit moan. It is what it is, no need to keep repeating yourselves.

My son is 6'2" he found the D4 seats ok, but he much prefers the Cayenne seats which aren't stadium but there is a lot more room in the Cayenne than a D4. Me I don't give a toss because I'll not be back there DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone
