Tubular steel Bull bars / Sill bars

I'm after a 'bull' (brush?) (pedestrian?) bar, the tubular steel type.
Can anyone enlighten me what types are available / where they come from / roughly£ how much.

- I'm after a 'real' one rather than a 'bling' chrome accessory.

Also, anyone found any off road type sill protectors / rock sliders yet?

Tubes didn't cause me any problems at the weekend but I wouldn't have wanted to do the route we did with sidesteps on. I'll take some measurements later to see how much clearance is lost, if any, with tubes on.
 I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I just added the Rasta sill protectors. The replace the plastic bit and attach directly to the frame. They are made from 1/4" aircraft aluminium. They seem strong and do not take any clearance away.

They are made by an Isreali firm, Rasta 4x4. They cost about $500 here in the US. Here is a link to one place that sells them here - along with the installation instructions:

They are very easy to install - I installed them at a campground with a multi-tool, a screwdriver and an allen wrench!

Your right ND, tubes are less of a issue than side steps...I've seen a few bent steps over the last year or so. The plastic sills are designed to deform and then return to shape...you would be surprised at how forgiving they are too, I once dropped the full weight of the motor onto a trolley jack via the sill.... and upon release it just popped back into shape. Not your typical offroad scenario I appreciate but it gives you an idea.

Maybe it would be better for those that have previously had tubes to explain why they haven't put them on their replacement vehicles... they have had the experience of hard core tube use and really know the +/- Wink

The LR tubes sit 15mm lower than the chassis rails but due to only having fixing points on the sills (i.e. not cantilevered from the chassis) will deflect quite easily. Additionally, as they are made to absorb impact so as not to transmit the energy to (and therefore deform) the vehicle sills they are quite easy to damage. Most of the impact appears to be about 1/3 to 1/2 way along the area between the wheels, typically due to hard drop-offs with the front wheels. This has not caused any impact damage to the fuel tank, compressor or exhaust silencer but did trash a pair of side protection tubes Rolling Eyes
NWoods has a pair of cantilevered rock sliders and is apparently producing more, i'd be tempted to fit those against the LR offering...
