Turbo exhaust/pipe/hose. Where to find it?
Apparently I have a dirty turbo exhaust (is that how you call it??) which needs to be cleaned. Can somebody give me a pointer to where to find it?CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

Turbo exhaust to me is where the exhaust fumes exit the turbo and go to the silencer.
Should add, its under the passenger seat, you should be able to see the exhaust pipe and silencer
How do you know that is dirty

The car judders at certain revs. I believed it was a gearbox issue but yesterday I spoke to an ZF gearbox specialist on the phone who said that it most likely was not the gearbox. He said that the car should have the juddering at around 2500 revs in neutral. I never noticed that but he was spot on.
Then he went on and said that it most likely was somthing in the turbo airflow/pressure on the exhaust side. This apparently gets contarminated with oil/dirt making the turbo surge.CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

Ok see the logic in what the chap is saying but don't know how you would clean it.
It would a pain it the to remove the connection from the turbo to the main silencer, in fact, that section of pipe may be welded to the silencer so that would mean a new front section/silencer.
Anybody a clue how easy this is on a D3?CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

If it is not too badly coked up you may get away without a "proper" clean.
I managed to clear the VNT actuation on my dad's VAG TDI lump a few years back.
Liberal dosing of lubrication on the actuator, and then taking it for a good ragging (making sure to use WOT (wide open throttle) from v low rpm to redline, to ensure the VNT mechanism cycled fully. As per that PDF - you can also potentially excercise the mechanism with a spanner.
I stopped several times on the drive to re-lubricate.
You could run the VNT through an actuation cycle via the VAGCOM tool, but I didn't have access to that unfortunately (and there is an argument that it's best excercised whilst it is genuinely working).

Hi Darrell,
I paid 61 euro ex vat and p&p from the Innotec supplier in Holland. About 50 pound at the current exchange rate.
Don't know if I will do it myself. Don't have much time. Travelling to Paris next week and want it sorted by then.
Thanks Slimer, exactly the post we were looking for CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS
