Sounds like a wonderful modification, but can you guys who have t/chiped your cars answer the following:
1. What sort of sacrifice have you made in terms of fuel consumption?
2. Does t/chipping affect the warrantee?
3. Are there any known issues with the drivetrain being unable to handle the additional power/torque in the long run? '06 TDV6 SE AUTO BUCKINGHAM BLUE

1. Between 3-4mpg IMPROVEMENT (If you can stop yourself from doing the traffic light Grand Prix)
2. Turbochip cannot be detected by the dealer - though since a high % of main dealers are doing it / selling it themselves...........
3. Most of it handles the V8 already so shouldn't be an issue IMHO

1.) same as JMC .... was in the 21-22mpg's now at 25-27
2.) warranty and TC (or other remaps) ... well as JMC has said some dealers do it.... how do they handle warranty
My dealer know's about mine and didnt have a problem.
3.) once again the V8 runs on the same drivetrain (Im sure there are differences )

Excellent.
As Dannyboy is closest perhaps we can arrange a time and a place? Any suggestions or ideas welcome.
Also, interested in the rolling performance figures, 30-50; 50-70 type of stuff.
Anybody else got other comparisons they would like to see done?

I'm well up for it, I live just off the M1 at J38, there are plenty of quiet dual carriageways around here as we are near the countryside, perhaps late evening or maybe a sunday when traffic is a bit quieter, let me know what you think, PM me if you want to go ahead and swap details and arrange a meet, etc...
should be interesting to see where my £500 has gone!! Favourite Things:-

The chip only works on the non-terrain setting. Sand mode would be the same (original) on both. Disco 5 HSE Lux

Hmmm, an extra few mpg you say
With an assumed 3mpg saving (I already average between 25 and 28, but it seems to be settling around 25 ) it would take me 30,000 - 35,000 miles to be cost neutral, which is likely to be 2-3 years driving.
Nah, think I'll stick with it for the moment. Plenty quick enough as it is. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

NoDo$h sometimes we buy things not just to be cost effective, the extra cost of the SE pack on your motor over the 7 seat base model for example, how many miles of light footed economic driving over how many years to recover that cost?
The T/C definitely improves the driving experience of the D3, and improves the motor in probably the only area where it can be said to be lacking, however, T/C is not for everyone, and this is just my opinion

A fine example of how the written word can be misconstrued, even with smilies. Sorry Danny, I wasn't ridiculing those who have TCd their cars (my last car had the TC treatment and I loved it). I was just thinking out loud on where I see the D3 with a TC, as I find the performance fine for the sort of car it is. For me the benefit is fuel economy first and performance second. I'm sure once I've had the car a few more months I'll re-evaluate my thoughts on the performance but for now it seems pretty much spot-on for my needs.
My post should be seen more along the lines of
"Interesting..... Hmmm, could save me some cash and give a bit more poke.... lets do some maths...... cost/benefit if you like... Not looking great, and this is a car I bought precisely because I'd had my fill of belting around on the redline with my last car. Now do I really want to push this car like the last one? Let's look at the maths again..... Hmmm, not adding up; think I'll leave it."
Note this is based on my needs, experiences and views, not set out as a "ooh, you're a plonker if you do that!" I just want another box or two ticked to make a TC worthwhile as things are for me at the mo. Sorry matey, not intending to wee on anyone's bonfire. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

NoDo$h.............absolutely no offence is or was taken, merely showing my thoughts / reasons for going the T/C route, same as you I suppose, just thinking outloud.
