Hi,
Has anyone tried running twin roofboxes particularly on a D3/4? Its a nightmare to Google for as it keeps finding Discovery 2 references!

Not personally, but I saw a D3 in the Lake District with twin boxes on the standard LR roof bars. Plus I've seen D3's with a box and bike carrier on the roof several times.
Obviously, you'll need to not exceed the max. weight and be able to open the boxes etc.
