Tyre Pressure Monitor System

After taking delivery of my new Disco 3 HSE I was astounded that it did not have as standard a tyre pressure monitoring system. I thus resorted to fitting an after market unit which accommodates off-road settings down to 1 bar. A pleasure to have, shows temperature as well. I have also fitted one to my 4x4 trailer (after writing off a brand new tyre) with the display in the vehicle. Anyone else fitted such a system?

I also have the Digitire system. I Fitted 2 units, my trailer has 2 spare wheels. Beware though, fitting a system for the trailer means a few mods to the system as the aerials need to be positioned behind the rear bumper. I removed the Receiver from the display and had the cable extended so that the display is still in the drivers view. For more details PM me.

Heine, see my gallery for the pics on the TPMS. The antennae for the vehicle I laid in the floor panels at the door entry points, not in the roof / door rubbers as the book says. If you need more info on extending the receiver for the trailer unit let me know

Nice one. Which unit you got 201 A, B, C or D? With the aerial is on the floor, did you get good reception for the 4 main tires (not the trailer)? Also do you use a permanent 12V feed or it is a switched (ignition on) type of feed?

Thanks

Just checked the box, 201-S. Does your unit still have the separate receiver and display?
Perfect reception with the aerials on the floor. The routing just seemed easier doing it that way. Does your unit have the Off-road function?

Sorry I do not have one. The reason I was asking the questions, that I am thinking to get one. I was wondering on the permanent/switched feed, as I do not know if the switched feed is used, the main unit picks up the sensors again (in a timely fashion) or it looses the connection. If the feed is permanent it may drains the battery...?

Thanks

I am not sure what you mean about permanent/switched feed. My unit has a on/off switch but as I have it connected to my 2nd battery I leave it on permanently. The drain is minimal and should never drain the battery.

Thanks. This was my question (permanent feed= all the time +12V is connected, switched feed= only gets +12V when the ignition is on). It looks that it consumes around 8mA, thus as you said should not drain that much (I do not have second battery).

Thanks

Does anyone have a view on the reliability of this system over time?

I first fitted mine over a year ago and all still working fine. I did however, have to refit 1 sensor which was under-reading the pressure. Supplied FOC by Adrian Green.
