I want a set on the car for Finland/Norway Road Trip 2018 (end June/early July) but I made the mistake of buying a set of Wranglers with 6mm of them last year. Unfortunately in 15k miles later they still have 5mm on them. And SWMBO has banned me from buying another set of alloys.

I had Pirelli ATRs on the previous D3. I was very happy with the road manners, quietness and dry/wet traction however I have never taken them to mud or anything so no idea what they are like offroad.
Bit confused now.. Maybe go back to Pirellis???
Disco is a very heavy vehicle so unless you put kl71, hankook mts or other moulded aggressive threaded tyres do not think they will be a mud monster..(just thinking out loud)
Maybe pirellis atr's...(again) though I am tempted try GG at3s I am not hearing good things on them now

They are absolutely excellent off road. I've used them in snow, ice, sand, mud, tracks, gravel roads, tarmac, in all temps from -20c to +35c, in wet or dry. There are no conditions they haven't excelled at except deep mud. They are tough as old boots and go on for ever.

I’ve got Nokian Hakka Black SUV 255/55R19 tires for the summer. Having driven with them for ~ 2 months they seem all right. Not too much noise either. As the pattern on them isn’t very aggro they’re probably best as normal city/highway tires.
I wouldn’t go off road (as in something worse than your average well traveled sand road) with them, that’s for sure.

Great pics by the way!
I am now putting Pirelli ATRs back in the short list so either GG AT3s (just because I want to try them) or good old ATRs depending on little more research.
Any further input is appreciated!!

The GG AT3's have a higher silica content to keep them supple in cold weather, they have the 3 peak mountain/snowflake symbol. As such they'll not be as hard wearing as the ATR's. Although of course should in theory be better in the cold and will meet local laws at some EU ski resorts etc.
I don't personally know anyone using the AT3. I'm always wary of any GG tyre though as the AT & earlier AT2 have a habit of splitting their sidewalls on Salisbury Plain.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I wish I was. They are not a "main stream" tyre, numbers wise, here but for my use they are perfect. And if some one chirps in with "my tyre bloke tells me there no longer being made" take that with a very, very large dose of salts. That old chestnut has been thrown in for the last few years and I suspect is a result of the tyre place wanting to sell them something else.

I really hope not, I do not want to go through winters like that again. Nice and mild puts a smile on my face. Mind you one has sneaked I'm the snowy pic of Old Bluie above.

Oops, I misquoted you. Should have been Grianaig's post.
