I know that the 19" RRS wheels look great etc etc - but the tyres are not rated enough for the weight. After buying 19's, then messing with tyres - what about 20" RR set - surely they are up to the job ??
Nick D4 HSE....Probably, but not quite decided yet.

Nick - errrr No.
Most 20's are only rated at 106 or 107 too, and if straight of an RRS, then profile is also wrong (275/40x20)
If you use RRS 20" alloys (9.5" wide), then you can go with 275/45x20 (which I would have as not too low profile), or 295/40x20. If you go with the latest FFRR 20's (8" wide) (dont use the earlier FFRR 20's, you need different wheelnuts), the you can fit 255/50x20's.
In the UK, I've only found General Grabber UHP's in 275/45x20 with a load rating of 110 (I think Conti's are the same as they are part of the same group), or did see some NEXEN 275/45x20's at 110 weight rating on fleebay.
hope this helps

If you are thinking of fitting the RRS 20"s go with the 295/40x20 tyres. They will give your alloys a little bit of extra protection from damage.
If you need more info do a search on RRSport.co.uk, looking for wheel damage. Lots of horror stories with the factory fitted 275/45x20's. Arctic Frost RR Sport. TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Tow pack, PTI, Privacy Glass, Tasmods, Mudflaps & a RRSport umbrella in the boot.

On the 295/40/20 tyres fitted to my D3, Continentals give a little extra protection to the rim with a slightly raised profile at the rim edge. I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

To be honest, if I was going for the stormer type 20" alloys, I'd go for the 8" wide ones that are fitted to the latest FFRR supercharged (not the RRS) and fit 255/50x20's. Bit more comfort as not as harsh a ride as 45 or 40 series tyres, less chance of kerbing as well (wheel slightly further away from the ground). They look very very similar to the RRS ones, I think its just the grove down each spoke thats slightly different, and they seem slightly cheaper to buy from what I've seen go on fleebay, as they're not RRS supercharger ones! (bloody snobbery in a name)
