Tyres and mpg
My D3 runs on standard 17" rims and until recently had continental 4x4 contacts fitted (as per factory fit). These were a great all around tyre and I got more than 30,000 miles out of them. When I came to change them our local tyre fitters couldn't get any contis in so I opted for goodyear wrangler HP AW (again, I believe a factory fit tyre) and these seem to be fine. But there is a mystery when it comes to mpg. Throughout the 30,000 miles on the contis I averaged 29 mpg. Since I've had the goodyears fitted this has dropped to 27mpg. I've checked the tyre pressures and no issues there.
I could understand it if I'd gone for an all out MT or AT pattern but both of these are basically road pattern tyres. Has anyone else done a similar swap and seen a similar change?
Guess I'll just have to get some 19s with MTRs and then at least I won't care about the mpg javascript:emoticon('')MY11 Disco 4 SDV6 HSE

Had 18" Wranglers on SWMBOs D3, hated then but changed to 17" Contis, much better!!! Mpg about the same as with Wranglers. Loose 2 - 3 mpg when swap my car's 17" Contis for MTRs.
