The ultimate disco
Well feeling pretty unimpressed with the look of the new D5 my thoughts turn to buying the best spec D4
For my next upgrade. Im thinking of an Xxv to buy and keep but spec wise has this got ALL the extras on or should i be thinking landmark or hse lux
what is the top spec model you can get as i do like my extras.
I appreciate its a taste thing and loads of options make this a not straighrforward question .but straight out of the box whats top trump in the D4 worldMY05 SE D3 Manual my first LR what a car

HSE Lux was the top Std Spec. The run out models it changed to the Landmark. To get a new one now is hard, as people have been buying them because of the D5 not being received to well by the Disco fraternity

Funny you should bring this up! I traded my MY13 HSE Lux in yesterday for a MY14 XXV.
It's got everything you'd get in an HSE Lux, and then add rear aircon, surround cameras, wade sensing, reverse traffic detection, blind spot monitoring, adaptive xenons, high beam assist, tow assist, aluminium shift paddles and aluminium plate on the back. All the other bits are cosmetic - badging etc.
They were silly money new, but now they're about the same price as an HSE Lux of the same age.
Bought mine as a keeper and to be fair, the only thing that is absolutely appalling is the quality of the cameras in comparison to the MY13, but we all know about that and it's been discussed at length on the forum.
They are becoming like hen's teeth to find and seem to sell as soon as they come up! Only 1500 were built worldwide, so it's not a surprise.D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT

I've also been a bit disappointed with the quality of the reverse camera. As you slide down the banister of life

Glad it's not just me then Ave Hope you had a better experience than me! Turned up at the stealers for a 9am handover - eventually drove out of their car park at 2pm! 2 visits into the workshop to fix things that I'd already pointed out to them a fortnight ago, and even then there's still a couple of things that they haven't sorted out, so I'll just do them myself - then at least I know they'll be done right
Still, it's a great vehicle, 2 years warranty and another chance to go and play at LRE Skipton D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT

So far its been great and a massive step up from my D3. I did have a little wobble on the day I picked it up, when I filled up the tank and lost some diesel due to a faulty fuel filter having been fitted, but the dealer quickly sorted that out.
I am disappointed with the reverse camera as it doesn't come close to the cameras on other Landrovers I've driven. And having waded through the various threads on the forum, I'm still not sure if this is something that can be improved or not.
Recently took it on a weeks holiday in Northumberland and enjoyed every minute of driving it. The only niggle I've found so far is that the touch screen has blanked out for a few seconds losing nav etc. only happened a couple of times but need to look into it.
You have just remined me to book our LRE!As you slide down the banister of life

So I'm not the only one who thought the D5 looks odd then?, to me it looks like a bit of a cut and shut of an RRS front and a Disco Sport rear.

I must say the camera is far from HD, but mine does not seem to be that bad and I would go as far as to say acceptable considering it is not HD.
Back to the XXV, I'm really pleased with mine and they did come with every conceivable extra put on Disco's and a few extras only to be found on the XXV, so you won't be found wanting you had bought a Landmark or HSE Lux in it's place.
The only disadvantage is you have to like Causeway Grey, as to date I have not seen silver or white which were the other limited colour options to the XXV. Just lucky for me this was always my first choice of colour.........

PDC, just out of interest, there was a TSB - LTB00805 - Touch Screen Display Graphics/Text Distorted On Selection Of Reverse. Do you know if yours has had it done?
If you've got an IID tool, is there any chance you could PM me the ECU Infos for the FCDIM and IPMB modules? D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT
