Underseal

When it gets warmer I am planning to clean the underside of "Bertha" and give her a good seeing to with a quality underseal.

Now I was going to use the old faithful Waxoil, but it has been mentioned to me that Dinitrol is a better product and offers better protection.

Any opinions on the best to use?

Jim

Heard the same but have had current D3 and previous D2 sorted my Rustsmaster at Hhatfield and Waxoyl was used both times. No complaints but Dinitrol is newer and may be a better formulation.

Only recommendation I can make is pay to get it done

Rustmaster appear to be the most recommended and they have an place in Hatfield

I had mine done at their Knutsford place 2 years ago and when local indy MOT'd it a couple of weeks ago he asked where it was done and how much I paid - commented whatever they charged it was worth it, best job they had seen

I don't have facilities to ramp up and do it all myself, but even if I did I wouldn't - understand it has to be the messiest job in Christendom.

Edit - beaten to a recommendation.... Thumbs Up

Is Rustmaster still in business? Had a Google and can't find a website. I'm going to have a look at mine on Friday when it's up on the ramp and if it's not too bad do the worst bits, but if it's not looking good I'll get a professional job done.

Companies House says they are in liquidation. Probably offered too much for too little. I remember Ziebart from the 70's. Superb stuff and many classics survive to this day because of it but they went bust too.

Put the club down and move out of the dank cave - use Dinitrol, a modern product that does not feel like you are taring the roof in the Shawshank Redemption.

But if you do it with Waxoil you can sit and drink with the sun on your shoulders and feel like a free man; like the lord of all creation.

Robbie, having previously wax oiled 4 or 5 of my previous Landies I have to agree with you that it is time to move on. Have you ever used Dinitrol?

All the chassis waxes are messy to apply, not hard to do at all though.
For the money you pay someone else, you can buy the compressor, the hose and the wax applicator and still have all the kit left over at the end.

Morris Ankor wax is much better than waxoyl.
Have heard good things about Dinitrol and the Bilt Hamber Dynax s-50

The other thing to bear in mind is the D3 chassis is a much simpler construction than the earlier land rovers with box section chassis with multiple strengthening plates fitted inside that all corrode and no matter what you use its hard to get anything between these plates to stop the rot.

So on a D3 a simple chassis wax will most likely do the job nicely.
