Unknown noise - start motor like but with engine running |
|
Hi All,
Can anyone help me identify a potential issue? I couldn't find a suitable search term to turn up anything useful in the forum.
After dropping the kids at school, I started the car and a few second later had a noise that sounded like the starter motor trying to turn over for 5-10 seconds, that was loud enough to attract attention from others in the carpark. The engine was running and I hadn't touched the key. I was in a rush, so the car may not have completed all the checks before I started the engine.
The car ran normally, there were no warning lights or messages and everything seemed to be working so I drove home. Stopping and starting the car on the way without further issue.
I recently had the alternator replaced under used car warranty, could something have been disturbed whilst that was being worked on?
The school is about a mile away, and it wasn't particular cold this morning - about 3 degrees. We can only park on a slope making checking fluid level difficult.
Anyone have any suggestions what that could be?
Thank you and best regards,
Steve
