Upgrading brakes standard to drilled and slotted?

Hi

I’m due to change all 4 sets of pads and discs. An advisory on my last mot which the back left corner has now started grinding sounds (which is very concerning).

I’ve been looking at new sets and my question is, is it worth upgrading the discs to slotted and drilled over standard smooth discs for everyday driving with occasional motorway driving in the D3? Will I get better stopping power or is it more for cooling than stopping?

Also under braking my steering wheel starts shaking from side to side. Will this be solved with new brakes or is this a separate issue?

Thanks

Probably better off doing the V8 upgrade. Plenty of threads on here, just use the search function.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I’m not interested in doing the V8 upgrade, was just seeing if I’d see any benefit from the discs. I’ll stick to the standard and cheaper discs 👍🏻

I would say as several others have it is worth investing in decent pads like some of the EBC ones. Can made a difference even with standard discs.

Drilled and grooved Discs..

I use them all the time, have done for about 10 years.
No better or worse for braking - stopping. However I find a lot less brake dust on the wheels Thumbs Up

Ebc green stuff brake pads to coplement Thumbs Up

Not overly expensive from ribblevalley 4x4.. just replaced all mine again..

It may fix your steering shake if the discs are warped
