Using keyfob to lower car while parked
Guys sorry if this has been done before but I struggle to use the search function to narrow down to a meaningful result.
OK so I have tried many times to programme the LR button on the keyfob to make the car lower when it is parked. I read about having the the hazard lights on when you programme it and have tried to follow it exactly as in the book. But it does not seem to work. I am guessing that you don't have to use the hazards each time after you programme it - if you do it seems useless!.
Can some one talk me through exactly what I need to do..
MY 07 SE if it matters.
Many thanks
Andy

hi
sorry matey it cant be done
i had a rrs while my d3 was in the workshop and when he got out and shut the door it lowered and it looked cool,
i asked him and on here if it can be done but apparently he tapped the access button just before he got out so thats why it happened
would love to be able to have that function though

Thanks Dunc.
So.. what exactly is the book telling us on page 45/46 of the owners handbook then.. I read it as saying it could control the suspension height. I am confused (not for the first time!)

It does work, but sadly you DO have to have the hazards on. Elf Ensefty at work. Utterly, utterly useless. I just flick the switch by the gear selector as I get out, and when the door shuts it lowers.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
Sorry to contradict but it can be done, the dealer set mine up when I got it and it was a good game in the car park getting it to go up and down until the air in the compressor ran out. Somewhere along the line the key fob has changed to 'get me home' lights, but I have no idea how I did that Craig

I'm sure Reggieb will be along soon if he is not outside playing with his. After his was programmed at Bala he never stopped playing with it.
And as others have said, yes you need the hazzards on to make it work. For details on the next Kielder Safari click visit the Kielder Safari website

I set mine up the other day,
The setting of the function had to be done within 30secs of taking the key out of the ignition - This was not explained in the book. You should get a little bong if successfull.

Mine fires up the compressor when you select to raise the vehicle on the keyfob??

I don't get this ... So the doors have to be closed AND the hazards have to be ON when you lower the suspension from the fob (so you're going to be outside the car, right?) you can't just lock it and walk away cos you've got to get back IN it to switch OFF the hazards?
That really makes sense

isnt the sting in the tail the fact the indicators have to be on
surely the idea is that once the car has been left and locked while in normal height mode then once you return to the car and the unlock button is pushed it will sit down for you to get in.
then again if it was that important then the car would already be in access height from when you get out.

I think the idea (and what I use mine for) is to raise and lower, not for access; but for hitching and un-hitching a trailer....
Same as the old TD5 except this time you don't have to buy an extra remote control and pay £75 for it to be activated!nil admirari

I thought this looked like a cool idea when I read in the manual you could programme the LR button to lower the car ( I haven't tried to programme the function but assumed that when you pressed the LR button to lower the car the hazards would come on automatically while the vehicle was lowering). In reality though I don't have a need for it, when I'm about to stop I flick the basement button and the car automatically lowers as soon as the speed drops low enough, thus enabling me to navigate my fat off the seat without wearing the leather away too much, therefore the car is always at its lowest position whilst parked.
