My 09 Disco 3 seems to be using a bit of water? When I check the coolant lvl its about 1/2" below the min level, I top it up to the max (when cold) level, do approx 60 miles, check again and its 1/2" below the min level again.....! No evidence on the floor of external leakage. Had a quick glance around teh engine bay and nothing evident. Any obvious places to check before I hassle my main dealer etc....? Thanks for any help.

Could be a leaking EGR valve cooler.

EGRs are always a favourite blame hound here I'm led to believe they may leak internally so there's no evidence at all in this case.
Mine was losing coolant gradually from the black bleed screw on top of the coolant tank; a small bit of plastic swarf was preventing it sealing fully; lost most of a tank over 4 weeks with very little evidence at the screw. removed screw, trimmed swarf and refitted and problem went away.
Sadly when it comes to coolant there are so many pipe joins/junctions and it could be any one of them
Experts, does the coolant fluoresce under UV when searching for a leak? Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?

Good luck! Let us know how their search goes? Dr. Ian Malcolm:

As promised an update..... |

Turns out the water was leaking from a hose junction where three hoses connect together via a plastic three-way connector piece. Connector was cracked. Took Lloyds of Carlisle 20mins to find it and two days to get it in stock. A good result and decent service despite not having a courtesy car available. I'm keeping an eye on my water level for the next few days just incase this was a red herring and there's additional leaks. I'm sure Lloyds checked this before confirming it was fixed..........?
