How much do you think the dealer will drop on the 56k list price? I rearly need to try to get as near to the cost to change deal Audi offered but not sure how to approach it

Buellbeast on here is selling his almost new MY12 D4 for a price LESS than the Q7 you mention in the For sale and Wanted Section. I think its only about 6 months old or so See the advert here : http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic89219.html

Friend has had a Q7 and has also been in the D4, Q7 has now gone and he is looking in the near future at a D3/4.
Main issue with the Q7 was tyres and the way it ate them, then the huge cost for tyres. He did not drive it hard and did not do a high milage in it but avergaed a set of tyres every 10 months.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

If you're talking costs, you're not comparing like for like. It's a used Audi vs. a brand new Disco. Just looking at the official LR web site, there's 130 D4 HSE's under one year old, and with similar milage, they are much more like your Audi price?
You'd be surprised how much a nearly new disco will still make you smile!
I know it's not like for like exactly, but I can help but feel the dealer has to come down on the price of the disco, I just need the cost of change to be slightly less. If I was offering cash tomorrow to the dealer for that car in his showroom I wouldn't be offering the 56k or have times changed lol.....and looking around nearly new ie 150 miles on a 2013 I can get for 51k - BUT it's the black pack I want and can't find any with it lol....this one at 51-52k I would probably deal
And yep, the q7 forum was v.boring for the 10 mins I spent on it, I like this one aloooooot more

If the list price is £56k and the dealer won't budge then walk awy because you are exactly right. Nobody pays list anymore. When I looked at my 1st D4 the initial dealer I went to flatly refused to discount saying he could sell all the cars he could get at full price. I walked, well wheeled away and spoke to Beadles in Sidcup. Their approach was professional and showed a desire to get the deal done. Nice £3 or£4k discount on a new HSE. Would you travel for the right deal? If the Audi has 2000 miles on it, you could go to the other end of the country for the right deal and you'll still have less miles on it by the time you'd driven home! Again, maybe I am biased but to me, the D4 is the perfect vehicle for my wants and needs and I don't even look at anything else now when it comes to changing. Best of luck with it and we hope you get into the car that you WANT

Supply & demand makes D4 discounts hard to find. The asian market is soaking-up pretty much everything LR can make so the supply of UK cars is below the current level of demand; so there is some truth that dealers can sell cars at the higher end of the price margin as the waiting list ebbs and flows (I waited 4 months).
Facts always help:
On a HSE there is circa £10k profit margin (using the post VAT figure which clearly they don't get).
JLR UK get half of this so unless you have a special deal with them you are not going to get your mitts on this.
The dealer's £5k (post-VAT) is the one you are working on.
Remember that they have a business to run and kids to feed.
They may have already sold their allocation.
They may need to boost their numbers in order to gain a larger allocation of cars from JLR in future.
They may have a stock car for whatever reason that they want to shift.
If you tell them you are flexible on spec to get the best deal, so would take a stock car, this will also give them a subliminal message that you may also be equally flexible with the source of the car. Be nice, be friendly, but don't try to make a new friend.
Oh and a friend of mine just switched from a D3 to a Q7; after a few weeks he is now looking for a D4.
Good luck!

Thanks guys, great posts.
I suppose it depends on what figures the dealer comes back with first. A cost to change can be so different on two cars. Ie the Audi is 8k cheaper BUT the real cost is in the change.
I believe there is enough variables ie my part ex prices and apr rates to get the disco nearer the ballpark....
One Audi dealer offered me 8.5k on the xc90 a lot more than the Audi dealer with the q7 I'm interested in.

When I bought my present D4 I printed a quote out from HERE and took it into my dealer and just said I am buying a new D4 from these guys, if you can match the quote I will buy it from you. At the time the discount via buyacar was about 9.5%, the salesman went away to have a chat with his sales manager and came back and offered me 10% so I ordered the car there and then Cheers Ian

If you are a footballist or a dealer in class A then the Q7 is the one for you, if not it has to be the D4

thanks everyone for all the brilliant replies....
Thing is, using buyacar.com that someone suggested, i can get exactly the same car as
that in the showroom is 56k for 50k but with a 8-12 week wait.
On Thursday I am going to Audi and the LR dealers again, we have test drives lined up again to help clarify exactly what car we want.
The first test drive I BELEIVE is too short to make your mind up as to which car most suits you, your full of lust for the car cos you already know you like them or you wouldnt be there.....the salesman is pattering away and you (the wife rearly) is more
worried about crashing than looking/feeling how its driving if you get me.
I rearly dont want to wait 8-12 (and probably more) for the car, i need to change now rearly but im not paying 6k for the pleasure of a black pack car now
Do you think its worth me stating what i can get one new for and whilst not asking for a price match asking for it to be within striking distance ?? thats PRESUMING it will be the Disco we settle on
any advice fellas....

Q7 - normal car, lacks presence, footballers wife image
D4 – Land Rover
I had a D3 for 5 years, D4 3 years old in March – will I get another – you bet your life – but probably next year
Simply best car I have ever had, huge carrying capability, incredibly comfortable over long distances (did Manchester – Edinburgh couple of weeks ago in the bad weather – didn’t miss a beat)
Never Off-roaded, but so what?
