One of the service managerial guys has gone to Salmon in Bris, left at beginning of Jan.
He didn't leave, he was made redundant and then GS created a job for him - or that's what he told me.

We had a xc90 for 4 years, it was a great car, but slow compared to our discos (both 3 and 4). Also had a q7 for a couple of days, it felt huge and a bit 'Cheshire'
Disco 4 is a great car all round.
What are the details of the GTI ??
Cheers

PLEASE someone explain to me WHY MY HEART still wants this damn Disco 4 !
Someone please put me off the Q7 -
I think you have just found out what permagrin is all about. Very difficult to explain but the Disco just has a bit of soul and is a nice place to be and that's apart from it being a dam fine motor as well. I can't really explain it but I had the same irrational feeling after switching from my BMW; it was a very good car indeed but I just got bored with it (oh, and fed up when it refused to move uphill on snow...).

Through work I get to drive, and be driven in, a wide variety of cars. In my opinion the Q7/X5 type of car is a compromise, it is neither a conventional car nor is it a four wheel drive. The argument that they handle like cars is a nonsense, they don't and never will as quite simply the laws of physics prevent it. We use X5s at work and they do neither job properly - they don't perform or handle like a car, but neither do they work as a 4x4.
In my humble opinion, if you want a large comfortable car, buy an A6 or A8 estate, if you want a 4x4 then you need to buy the Discovery. Hope that helps?

Deposit placed
New car in dealers showroom
D4 HSE santo black
Black pack with 20inch black alloys
Black interior with optional black inserts
Can you see a landmark copy coming here
Extended roof rails
Heated steering wheel
Removable tow bar and electrics
3 bike cycle carrier tow ball mounted ( love this, get in the boot with it on)
Full size spare
And few more bits and bobs £52k all in...
Probably not the cheapest possible deal but even on buyacar.com it was 51k without the bike carrier a £599 piece of equipment, not that I would buy one at that price
It worked out 3.7k more expensive than a 2500 mile q7, so hope I don't regret it
Thanks for everyone's help on here, ace forum
A happy oldgit st
