Hey guys , great site.
I am (probably like most of you at some point) really tempted by a disco4 to replace our 8 year old xc90.
Being honest, my wife is very very split between the disco4 and q7 and must admit I'm pretty split too
Running costs ved/fuel/servicing seem better on q7 but something keeps drawing me to the disco4
So 4 month old fully loaded 2000mile q7 £48300
The disco 4 I want is in a main dealers showroom and is a brand new HSE with sunroof etc and the black design pack that I love.....price £56k
So advice guys, not sure what I should be asking for price wise from the land Rove dealer but if I can get near the q7 deal I think I will disco4 it
Audi offered
Xc90 trade 7k
Golf gti 18k
Deposit 12k
Finance the rest with them
Not sure where to turn for best advice so sorry this is my first post and if goes well hopefully one of many (if I can persuade the other half )
Any of you wish you hadn't bought the disco, anyone help me put her off ?
Any help much appreciated peeps
Ta
A disco 4 wanting oldgit.....

Hello from another newbie
I am still waiting delevery of my D4, I had considered a Q7, but for me the D4 has more road presence. For me the only real 4x4 is either Land Rover or Range Rover all the others are imitations. Took the wife to look at the D4 & Q7, she preferred the D4 so mind made up.
If you go down the new D4 route, I think there quite a few different finance options that might be suitable.
Hope this helps

Firstly, welcome to the site
Hmmm D4 or a Q7, well I know which one I would get, but I'm probably biased
Obviously the D4 is much better, and it's a proper 4x4, to me it's a easy decision Never get mad - get even !!
06 D3 now gone to family member and still going strong at 265k
previous vehicles:
04 D2 TD5 - (clocked 189k from new)
52 X-Trail 2.2 SVE
various euro boxes !

I seriously considered the Q7 a while back but two things really put me off. Firstly, the interior space compared to the exterior size just doesn't make sense. I rarely use the third row of seats but do require a large loading area for kit. While the Q7 is massive outside, the load space inside is actually smaller than the A6! Secondly, that curved mass doesn't make for an easy drive around town... especially if you're a short woman! SHMBO actually likes driving the D4 and says it's easy.
You can admire the build quality and Germanic engineering in the Q7, but they haven't realised the power of the permagrin. There's something about the D4 that just makes you smile.

Don't totally discount the forum supporters on here for the finance, I have just bought a 2nd hand D4 direct from a dealer and organised by own finace through one of the forum supporters and got a much better deal and a great flat rate for the value of vehicle (29 k with 20 k financed at 4% flat rate).

Ask your dealer for a demo of the D4 at one of the land rover experience days, they all have the vouchers to help seal the deals once she has done that and can see how good and safe it is the deal will be done. My mate had a Q7 and I took him to the honiton experience centre he is now on his second D4 and won't look at anything else MY18 RRS Autobiography Fuji White

Do you want / need a real 4x4? Your answer will determine which one you buy!

Now there's the question, and in truth no, that's why this is probably such a hard and silly decision to make ,ie want over necessity..... But then would you say Someone buying a Ferrari, do they need that performance?
I felt driving the disco 4 gave me some kinda feeling the Audi can't YET the Audi impressed me soooo much in it's build quality running costs and on road ability, like a hot Hatch one minute and a limo the next.....
I was never very decisive at the best of times lol but this is just silly lol.....
How much do you think the dealer will drop on the 56k list price? I rearly need to try to get as near to the cost to change deal Audi offered but not sure how to approach it

Have you looked at drivethedeal.com? They are doing the HSE with Black Pack for circa £50k. Drive The Deal use Land Rover dealers but use their buying power to negotiate the best deal on brand new cars. My mate has bought all of his new cars through them. 2021 BMW iX3 Premier Edition in Carbon Black ⚡️🔌

If you're talking costs, you're not comparing like for like. It's a used Audi vs. a brand new Disco. Just looking at the official LR web site, there's 130 D4 HSE's under one year old, and with similar milage, they are much more like your Audi price?
You'd be surprised how much a nearly new disco will still make you smile!

I'm a bit biased too. For me it's a Disco.
We were in two minds over a Disco or X5. The only reason we went for the Disco was because of our current dog sizes and we will be getting a caravan. Our 4 dogs wouldn't fit in an X5 but as we are down sizing our breed we may review it later on. Also with the D3 we can have fun off road and get it out of our system. Even though we both would love to have an X5 in a heartbeat there is something about the Disco that is just right.
If you are basing this on running costs then don't discount an X5 as you won't find a diesel with the same power delivering the same economy. Many car mags rate the X5 as having the best road manners but wet grassy inclines are a no go.
It purely depends on what you're looking for in a car. We needed a tow car, space for the dogs and wanted to off road too. Ian
