2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 S Manual Zermatt SilverDiscovery 3

Hi - the S has been replaced by the SE I believe - If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will give the right answer. Anyway I have an S and I get around 32 - 34 mpg on a good run ( 70 - 80 mph ) around town 25 - 27 mpg and towing a horsebox drops it to 23 - 24 mpg.

Hope that helps.

According to the OBC, I am getting an average of 14.1 l/100km. Calculating it myself it is about 15l/100Km.

Which is decent for a 4l petrol, 2.5 ton automatic vehicle.

Thanks Charless. I am only managing to get 15.5l/100km with a very light foot. I am trying to decide if it's going to be feasible to kit the vehicle and use it for over land trips. I am a novice at this 4x4 and overland thing and you may be able to help with the following,
1. How readily available is unleaded petrol in our neighboring countries and further up north?
2. Are long range tanks available for the Disco3 in SA?
3. Have you tackled any overland trips with your V6 S? Wink

Re. Your Questions

As far as I know unleaded is available in Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique. Further than that I am not so sure, maybe check with the SA Embassies. I have left Zim out for obvious reasons.

On long range fuel tanks refer to the following link
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic11274.html

I have not done major trips with the Disco yet, only have it for about 6 months now, but got one planned.

Very Happy

Many thanks Charless. I have my first trip planned three weeks in September starting in the Waterburg then working my way down to Lesotho up the Sani pass from there working my way down to the Bavianskloof and spending three days exploring the area. I have recently acquired a pristine peace of land to the South of the Bavianskloof which can only be accessed with a 4x4 tried it last time with a 2x4 and almost came unstuck. In any event can't wait to get going. ....yahooo!
