V8, Cruise Control, Hills and Reduced Engine Performance
Just back from a 2,600 mile round trip to Italy in the D3, no major issues and (fixed headrests aside) the wife is content, so all is good.
We did have a couple of small niggles that'll need looking at but the recurring one that is repeatable seemed to be with the cruise control - driving along on motorways at around 75mph (120km/h) using cruise control, if we came to a downhill where you could feel that the ECU was having to use engine breaking to hold the speed you would more often than not get a boing and 'Reduced Engine Performance' on the info display. I can't say I noticed any reduction in performance (but then 70mph isn't really taxing the V8 ) and within a couple of minutes the fault would clear itself, so it's not a big deal but wondering if anyone else has seen this and whether it's a sign of something needing looking at?

When did you last clean the throttle body and MAF ?
That's where I would start, as I had this on mine 1st week of ownership. Cleaned both and not had that message since.

Morning,
Gave the MAF a spray with contact cleaner before we left, but not done the throttle body in a while - it could well be that. To be fair it's done over 4000 km in two weeks, so possible another MAF clean will help, as it did become more frequent to the end of the trip.
One day I'll get a IID tool and be able to read the diagnostics!

You don’t need to clean the maf for, Reduced Engine Performance, is only the throttle body it needs to be clean.

Thanks Michele, I'll give it a clean at the weekend. Only problem is we don't have many hills around here to test it on!!
