Vacuum NRV failure

My 2007 D3 had the vacuum recall completed in 2009 with the new hoses and non-return valve but this needed revisiting about 4 months ago when I heard gurgling (oil) in the servo upon turning off the engine. I replaced the pipework, servo and master cylinder myself without too much bother but decided (after reading various posts on here) not to replace the vacuum pump...

My thoughts were the vacuum pump must draw a certain amount of oil to the vacuum side when not operating so is not necessarily faulty if still producing a good vacuum. Having now found oil in the new pipes and servo within four months is highly frustrating. Big Cry

Is this simply poor NRV's (I used genuine LR) or is it absolutely necessary to replace the vacuum pump to reduce the presence of oil in the vacuum pipe ??
Has anyone used a better performing NRV or should I trust a second replacement will last longer this time ?

Oil and vacume shouldn't really mix. I consider it a faliure.

If you can get a new one for around the £300 mark or less, replacement would be the way to go I would think. It's not exactly a fun job to change, so a second hand item it probably not a good idea.

Some places like to charge £600 Shocked

There were talks on a Jaguar forum of using an electric pump instead (they are fitted to petrol D3 / RRS) so if you really like modifications.......

I had the same problem, LR recall P017, in 2010 and then it failed again - circa 2017, I had servo, pipes and vacuum pump replaced at LR expense, even though car was 10 years old.

Others have not been that fortunate,

good evening ladies & gents
I'm have the same problem now with my 58 plate d3 I have spoken to my local dealer who will only tell me there was a recall for the same problem in may 17 but they say they can't tell me (or won't tell me) what work was carried out.
I think for a safety fault that hasn't lasted 2 yrs L/R should be a bit more concerned
can anybody point me in the right direction as to where I should go with this?
I was thinking of contacting vosa to ask there advise.
