Various Questions: IID, PDC, DRL and high beam.

Where to start, it seems the more I learn about this car, the more it becomes confusing!

1- My IID tool doesn't show me the fault that the car is showing me. Every time it rains heavily, I get a loud beep and the following message on the screen (poor image quality, it reads "Cameras unavailable, please consult your dealer"). All PDC sensors stop working and the reversing camera stops. I had this fault read when I had a megaflush and it was rear outer left sensor. As it's constantly raining now, it's getting on my nerves so I went to read it again to source the part needed and it doesn't show. Even when the message is on the screen, rescan the faults and there's nothing there. Any ideas?

2- I'm waiting on MMJ to test the following circuit for me, then potentially install it to make the 2015 DRLs work.

After fiddling with the IID, I found this option.

I enabled DRL standard and applied the changes. The DRLs now work in the 0 position, they're the correct brightness (brighter than sidelight), they dim when turning to sidelight and stay dimmed for dipped beam.
They don't dim during indicating, could someone tell me if they do on their 2014 please, just to compare (please don't guess)
The confusing thing about this is, Pin 8, which is the 2015 DRL feed isn't in use on the 2012 lights. (See wiring diagrams below). So I don't know if there is a wire in Pin 8 already that isn't in use and therefore not on the diagram, or if they're being controlled in some other way. I can't see how they would as it's a physical difference rather than software.
Can anyone with a 2012/2013 car tell me if the loom that plugs into the headlights has a wire into Pin 8?

3- Finally, As shown on the wiring diagram, the Bi-Xenon on the 2015 means the high beam is purely a motor shutter. When the headlamps are off, flashing the high beam operates the shutter and doesn't release any light (as the dipped beam isn't on). I've read loads on the DRLs albeit nothing definitive, but nothing seems to be about how to solve the high beam flash issue. Do I connect the High beam to the dipped, with a one way diode? So when the high beam feed energises, it also feeds the dipped? Seems simple but I know little about it and don't want to overload anything.

Thanks in advance
Dan

3 - Basically, yes, but I would use a relay (and then you won't need diodes either). Thumbs Up

LFW,

Where abouts would you recommend connecting this to the current loom? Add a parallel feed to the dip?

Behind the lamp is the simple option; just make sure you have nice waterproof connections - a soldered, heatsrunk splice is best; avoid Scotchloks at all cost! Thumbs Up

Would this diagram work? Single relay, two outputs splitting a single 12v ignition live to the two dip beams. Would this be too much power when the dip beams are already illuminated and they suddenly get another feed from a relay?

That's fine, but you don't need an ignition feed - just take a fused feed from the battery. No need for the diode(s) and the high beam is already protected by the FET so the fuse isn't strictly needed. Current is pulled by the lamps as required so there is no increase in current due to a second path; just ensure your wire is of sufficient size if you're going to use a single feed to both lamps. Bow down LFW as always!

I'll leave the diodes out then, that was going to be my next question. Fitting them inline with 17A cable was a fiddly job.

What's FET stand for? I've searched but only found it in usage and no definition.

I've started now, good clean workspace as good practice....

It stands for Field Effect Transistor. Instead of relays and fuses, the dip and main beam feeds use FETs which cover the job of both - in the event of a short, they detect overheating and shut off. Thumbs Up

Thanks everyone that helped me with the DRL fitting and High beam flash mod.

Both are now working. Quite a simple job. If anyone wants my wiring diagram, PM me.
