Venables under lock n key -AGAIN

IMHO it's the best place for this person. Couldn't care less what his name was changed to, or what he has done AGAIN that's broke his bail conditions.

My thoughts are STILL with Jamie Bulgers family

Should never have been let out in the first place

Well, I suppose the up side is that it disproves the theory of the bleeding heart brigade that such sick individuals can be rehabilitated.

Despite being very anti capital punishment, I can't help thinking that taking a life should mean the whole of his life spent in prison. I really fail to understand why he was ever let out in the first place. Hindley, Brady, Huntley etc; they have never been let out. Why was this scum?

I was actually trying to comprehend how the Bulger family would feel about all the media coverage and being back in the public eye. It really must be complete torment for them.

Words fail me. What have we, as a society, come to? I truly hope they lock him up for ever.

don't think it will take long for his 'new identity' to come out ... not based on the people I see on a day to day basis Whistle

on a personal note - we found the Bulger case all the more shocking as my eldest was exactly the same age as the victim at the time Sad

Just to play Devil's advocate... Whistle the reason for the return to prison could be as something as simple as missing a curfew start-time. Even the solicitor doesn't yet know why he has been returned.

Agree that they should never have been let out, but wonder why it has been publicised at all. The country spent a fortune on new identities etc so I would have thought thay he would have been arrested and imprisoned, for whatever reason, under his new identity with no media focus?

Agree with SN that it won't take long for the full story and identity to come out when he'll get a taste at least of what he dished out to that poor wee lad Big Cry

Just to chuck in a moral grenade ...are you all saying that someone cannot be rehabilitated?

I'd say no, but equally not everyone CAN be rehabilitated

And also equally, not everyone DESERVES to have the chance to be rehabilitated - and this is why, for me personally, the reintroduction of the Death Penalty is an option that should be considered.

The press are quoting a "senior barrister" that it "was a significant chance the breach had been serious".

Note also that he has been involved in "several violent incidents" previously and cite the worse one as when he was stabbed after accusing someone of chatting up his girlfriend (wonder if she knew who he was.....)

Lets hope he gets a dose of the 'Ali Dizaei' treatment meted out on him (and before any 'bleeding liberal hearts' start about rehabilitation, second chances, too young, etc. then don't bother Evil or Very Mad )

If someone broke into my car I'd probably want to kill them but ... until you have a justice system that isnt so prone to miscarriages of justice like yours (and many other countries including my own no doubt) its probably not the best option.

my two cents

Generally speaking, this kind of sick individual cannot be rehabilitated, no. Yes there are exceptions to the rule but having done it once he is all the more capable now.

Probably closer to the point is the question of should be have the opportunity to be rehabilitated? His victim will never have the luxury of a second chance and neither should he. Life should mean life, not a few measly years with a nice new identity to protect him on his thoroughly undeserved release.

So its reported that he was banged up again for "fighting at work"????? You have the press gags and bans on identity for public bodies, etc. but do you really think that there isn't one (the attackee) as an absolute minimum that today is not wondering "hmmm, that fight I had with billybob last week was a bit odd as he was hauled away never to be seen again, look a bit like that Venables fella" and hasn't told his family, mates at the pub, anyone that will listen..... Whistle

looks like we'll be forking out for a whole new 'new' identity any time soon Rolling Eyes
