Doing the fuel filter housing is still good practice as a preventative.

Manifold is another kettle of fish though Sad

Manifold changed and performance restored. bill by local significantly less than LR.

Now at the most 24 hours after having that done the restricted performance came up again. Does the D4 do this just to Censored you off? Yes it had plenty of fuel in it. Yes 'fixed' the fuel filter thing.

Any ideas welcome?

Oh and SWBO said that the dash started saying things like keyfob not recognised as well, which cleared when stopped and restarted.

is this thing about to give me a blue screen of death equivalent?

what condition is your battery in? especially over the winter when heated screens/seats/lights are in use the voltage can be a bit low. I often get Restricted performance (code says Water in Fuel), but starting shortly after a reasonable run no message appears - suggest the voltage has dropped enough to drive the signal into the fault range (its based on a simple potential divider circuit).

Thanks for thought, I put the battery on charge and thought that was it until it went in to have the tracking sorted yesterday. Came back an hour or so later to find that the car wouldnt start, couldnt find key, wouldnt start with the 'emergency procedure' and a battery check had it as 'fair' condition, when it eventually started it flashed up with the restricted performance message. OFFS Censored. Think it had lost the key when they left it unlocked and walked off with the key and couldnt find it. So battery now replaced (effectively hard reset) hope that this has fixed the spurious messages.
