Voice Command System

just asking if the system fitted actually works on your Disco...
& if it works how well.
My reason for asking is that on my '06 Disco the CD/radio control works partially - some commands recognized others not....but on navigation commands system doesn't work at all.

I haven't a problem working CD/radio/Ipod with steering wheel buttons - but it would be handy to change settings/adjust navigation by use of voice system.

the comparison is that a colleague with a Jaguar which has same/similar system all commands work has anybody had their system upgraded / updated
 BREXIT - done properly.

Mine works 99% of the time. The only time it is flaky is when the blower is on a high setting.

I have taken time to learn all the 'speak' and she really obeys my every command. 8)

Oh sorry, you were talking about the car Wink

Mine only plays up when I have the kids in the car, even my 3 year old knows the instructions - then laughs manically!!

I was on a Land Rover Experience event last Sunday, and one of the guys said to make sure it was the female voice selected for voice recognition as the male voice understands US English only.

I found that in my case, I was speaking too loudly. I now have 99.9% success by talking like I'm at a funeral home (i.e very quietly). It was amazing how low a volume I had to produce before mine skipped or did something daft. Also leaving large spaces between the words seems to hamper recognition.

The aircon fan does complicate things though, so I'll turn it down if I need to be using the voice navigation controls - shouting over the noise of the fan is treated with the same disdainful "Sorry" as speaking loudly.

Hmmm maybe that's why mine doesn't work so well - I have a male voice!
but I can't see a way to change this to the female voice Big Cry

UPDATE - I have the Female voice on the Sat/Nav system but any attempt to use any Voice commands I get replies in a Male voice - anyone got a clue how to change this then ?

Mine recognises my voice 99% of the time as long as I don't speak too loud, or attempt to over-emphasize a particular word.

However, I've checked through all the various manuals etc.... and is there a complete listing somewhere of all the voice commands that are possible. The reason fo saying this is that on the odd occasion that I do fluff a word or command, sometimes the SatNav actually does some other command, often displaying POIs of some sort of another. Yet I cannot find reference to these other commands and it would be nice to have a complete listing to see if there are any really useful one.

If anyone has a complete list of all the SatNav commands it would be really useful.

more data....

I'm on a longish trip to Northern Ireland this weekend..exploring diferent ways to go to dadge the radar speed traps (back roads accross Dumfries & Galloway.
The Navigator works well re adjusting the route as I take different roads...
But you cant change settings when car in motion, complicated by the fact I have to use reading glasses to see some of the small detail in the command menus.
So adjusting things "on the fly" by voice is beneficial - if it works

Its the only "toy" in the Disco3 that doesnt work that well
...will be trying the low voice method
 BREXIT - done properly.
