Mud flaps - fit for purpose?
Ha ha – thought the purchase of some genuine mud flaps (cheers TTF) would stop the wife nagging about the state of the side steps and therefore our young children.
Its better than it was, however means I have half a ton of Sussex finest hanging in my wheel arches rather than on my side steps. 8)

Certainly cuts it down a bit, I’m thinking about getting some for the D5.

I'm not excusing the mudflaps as they are a bit small/flimsy, but just a thought (and might sound daft), but you are running RRS 20" alloys (with wider than standard 255/50x20 tyres??), which sit slighlty further out in the arch than any of the D4 standard alloys, so that might be why you are still getting a fair amount of crap up the sides

Good spot with 275/45 grabber AT3s.
Cant tell you how many reasonable sized stones ive prized out of the tread. Hopefully will keep the tail gaiters at bay.
Fair amount of twisties on the estate that might also have contributed to it

I fitted some genuine LR flaps to our d4 and it helped with mud splatter, but did not eliminate it. I thought the quality of them was good.

I fitted non OEM ones in the same style. They keep the mud splatters off the door which in turn must keep the stone chips at bay. I'm happy with that.

Not sure if still available but there were available Australian spec ones which were longer & wider than UK ones . I had some on mine in 2005. Stupidly sold it with them still on.

Fitted some Series II flaps to previous D4, cannot really say they reduced the amount of mud anymore than the standard D4 ones. My theory was when traveling along, the wind was lifting them up higher than the smaller but more rigid D4 ones.D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST
