Warm cab in mornings

My D3 is due for a change and I am thinking of a D4. The one regret with my D3 is that the fuel burning heater does not warm the cab - only the engine. Did LR change this and it is now a feature for the D4? What model should I be looking for?

cheers

I Believe it's available on XS, Landmark & HSE models for £900.00 if you tick the option box...

...or about half that from Pete Bell if you leave it un-ticked! Thumbs Up

You can retro fit it to any model ... Although if you dont have the nav screen then you would have to use the remote option

and less than a third of that if you purchase the parts needed from TLO and then arrange for TFC to fit and enable it Smile

On a MY12 D4 XS, can the timed function be activated just by accessing the CCF - or is there more to it than that?

Obviously, I realise that wouldn't include the remote operation.

Rear seat heaters etc...

Just bought a 2006 (06) TDV3 HSE and looking through the forum Wiggs may be able to assist with my technical issues, but all comments would be most welcome.

A few things interest me about this vehicle. Firstly, having read the threads, it seems that it's possible to install freeview. Is this correct? if so, how much would something like this cost?

I've also noticed that the rear seat heater lights don't illuminate and the seats don't heat. Could it simply be a fuse issue?

Also I can't insert CD's...they simply will not go in. therefore I assume that previously one may have got stuck and it could be a fuse issue, who knows?

The SatNav discs are out of date and need replacing. Any ideas?

I love the car and it's mainly for the Mrs, but any input would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance Smile

Remote Heating - Has anyone got any tips

Do you have to set the heater to auto and the required temp before locking the car??
Does the parking heater warm the car instantly from cold or does it take a few minutes (mine seems to warm and then start to blow cool air so when i get in the car after 15mins the car is cool)
Do you have to turn it off when you get in the car or does it cancel automatically - my remote still flashes so i turn it off.
Tried it after being on 15 mins and the car was cool / tried with on for 25mins and still cool - just cant seem to get it right at the moment
Drove to McD's the other day and while scoffing my burger in the car park i turned the engine off and fired up the parking heater - straight a way it fired out very hot air and steamed up the windows for 5 mins then changed to cool ????

Checked the owners manual but the instructions are pretty poor

I just can't seem to catch the car from cold at the right time with the heater on and the car warm

I'm not sure how sophisticated it really is. IMO, it's really there to serve one primary purpose: to provide a heat source for a cold engine to help with emissions (and possibly to reduce wear and tear second). It's arguably just an add-on benefit that it can be used to help with cabin heating/ventilation.

What it cannot do is provide a replacement/alternative source of power to drive the climate control system as if the engine was running...

As I understand it (certainly not definitive!) if the cabin sensor detects that the cabin is below 15C, it will attempt to heat the cabin (using whatever left over heat is available after the heat exchanger feeding the engine has taken all that it can out of it!) and if it detects that it is above 15C then it will attempt to ventilate the cabin (using fresh air i.e. not air-conditioned air). i.e. if it is 30C inside the car but the outside air is 20C, it will do it's best to get it down towards 20C but it will never get there if the car is in the sunshine as the greenhouse effect will never be overcome.

Therefore, if on a cold day you have turned it on before you get into the car, it will continue to do its stuff until you turn the ignition, upon which time I would expect the engine to take over control and the HVAC system to kick in under engine power. The only difference being that there would presumably still be some heat coming from the Webasto unit at least until the engine is properly up to temperature upon which time, the fuel supply to the Webasto would be cut.
