"WARNING LOW BATTERY" message on radio display
Can anyone throw any light on to a warning message which came up on the radio display. The car was switched off key in position 1 so radio would work. Nokia telephone was in the arm rest cradle and when trying to select telephone mode a message of "warning low battery" came up on the radio display and a battery symbol. The telephone was fully charged and another phone was tried and the same message came up. The message no longer appears. Land Rover Assistance said its to warn you not to use the radio or phone too much without the engine running, but its never shown this before. The car had been used for half an hour before the message showed so it's doubtful to be the car battery even though its four years old.

I'm having the same issue, head unit shuts down after 11 mins instead of the normal 1 hour. Dealer has ask LR for advice but I'm still waiting for an answer after a fortnight.Club Exped trailer

The cause is your vehicle battery is discharged and needs a proper charge to get it back up to spec - this means charging with a Bench charger that's capabe of charging Lead calcium batteries and not just a long run, that will not re-establish the core charge that's needed.
Not getting into the old which charger is best routine here, just search the forum and you'll find plenty of opinions on that.
My problem was caused by too many short journeys combined with the cold weather at the time and a faulting relay slowly draining the battery. I fully recharged it and and fixing the faulty relay haven't had any more issues.LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

In my case I don't think it is an actual low voltage issue as I have had a new battery fitted under warranty not long ago and when the head unit shuts down my internal volt meter is showing 12.7v. The dealer has done all the relevent checks asociated with a low voltage condition i.e alternator output, battery drain test etc and everything seems fine. There are waiting for LR to authorize a replacement head unit as they believe this to be faulty.Club Exped trailer

Sorry I can't offer any other solutions Ent, but that was definitely the case with mine. Maybe TFC has some ideas, why not drop him an e-mail.LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

As ENT said .. It's not necessarily the battery . I had the same thing , battery was changed and alternator. Problem was still there. After my own tests on the voltage the dealer changed the head unit ( stereo ) and that cured the problemG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Just a thought...
Does it say "Low Power Mode" ? - with the battery symbol.
Comes up if the volume is above a certain level... just means its conserving the battery by limiting the power output.
Mine was definitely "Low Battery Voltage" - but then the thing to bear in mind ion mine s that my basic only has the radio display, no LCD display in the dashLRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

I know what your saying Simon but its not the same message you get when you have the volume say over 20 then you turn the engine off and it goes into the low power mode. This error message comes up as lower power shutting down, this happens at around 11 mins and the head unit will not come on until you have run the engine for at least a minute. Strange one, as soon as a get an answer from the dealer/LR I'll post it up.Club Exped trailer

With the key in place (and ignition off) the car´s systems "wake up" and the disco draws 24 Amps
Never leave the key in for long with the engine not running.
The radio will also work without the key with the car "asleep" Life in the slow lane

Not if you have the problem listed above ..the radio will only stay on for 11mins or so ..not the designed 1 hr that it is programmed to do .G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

That is the same message I get on my head unit. Did you get a replacement under warranty? Did you get an explanation as to what caused it?Club Exped trailer
