Warped disks, I know its been done 100's times |
|
Hi,
Larry Jnr my Land Rover has now eaten a second set of disks in 14k miles. I think the problem is a) my local garage is using very cheap parts and b) they do not check the run out. So I'm going to bot be lazy this time and do them myself on the driveway.
However, I just wondered what would be a good set to put on. I don't need race brakes I use this for work and carting the dogs around etc. I do want some quality in the disks and pads though. To put it into context the ones fitted were about £40 a pair which is very cheap and probably made of cheese.
Also, I have not done disks on a disco before so are there any clips or pins I should also replace? I do have a dial gauge so I can measure the run out which I think needs to be .004mm? or is it .04mm.
Any help would be appreciated.

I bought genuine discs and pads from a LR dealer selling through eBay, it was just over £100 delivered per axle.
