Warranty Direct EGR Valve |
|
Guys
Has anyone had an EGR valve replaced under a warranty direct warranty?
I have a luxury care warranty and 30k on the Disco 3 and WD are saying they don't cover them because its carbon build up?

Covered under Extra Care
Fuel System
Lambda sensor, air induction system, air pump, anti-knock sensor, canister purge solenoid, deceleration valve, EGR recirculation system, EGR/ EFE thermal vacuum switch, EGR/ EFE valve, fuel fill neck restrictor, fuel fill pipe and cap, fuel receptacle, fuel sensor, fuel tank, fuel tank pressure control valve (PCV), idle air control valve, intake air resonator, oil/ air separator, PCV system, powertrain control module, secondary air injection system
I would start a dialogue with them as they have done EGR's for others on the forum. You never know, you might catch them on a good day.

I've also got a WD policy, although (touch wood) haven't had to make a claim yet.
Are you still in the first 90 days of the policy where they exclude more things? Also, did you take out the emissions cover which is supposed to include the EGR?

Hi
I have the emissions and airbag cover 8 months into the policy which has been running for its second year.
I have spoken to them and they won't cover it because the cause is carbon build up according to the Land Rover garage even though they haven't took it off!
So WD will not cover it because they exclude carbon build up.
Great!

What about blanking it - as you are not Euro 4 you can do it easily and cheaply.
Site sponsor and all round decent chap Pete might be a good move here http://bellautoservices.co.uk/products/lan...nking-kit/

Obviously your garage never told WD that it was carbon build up that caused it to break!

Guys
Turns out the garage haven't took it off to have a look, so how could they know its a carbon build up?
£500 to have it replaced and WD won't cover it because of the carbon!

Al
If its mechanical then its covered but because the dealer has told them its carbon (they say they guessed because its usually carbon) I'll have to get an engineers report now to give to warranty direct to show its not carbon!
The dealer want to charge me £138 for putting it on their machine (1 hours labour) then I can collect it and fit some blanking plates. If I have a look and its not a carbon build up I'm going to be a rather pi**ed off person!
Then I will get an engineers report, bill the dealer and get warranty direct to fix it!
The joys of a quick guess! 2006 TDV6 S Auto, Buckingham Blue, for the wife and kids.

Guys
All sorted.
WD would cover it if the dealer Stratstone hadn't told them it was a seized valve due to carbon build up. Turns out the dealer didn't take it off to check but 99.9% of the time that is the cause. Which seems strange because speaking to WD they have paid out many times. So either dealers are not telling the truth to WD or Stratstone are not telling me the truth! I wonder which!!
Anyway £138 from the dealer to check for fault codes. I told them to ram it and they dropped the bill. The service advisor had handed her notice in saying she'd had enough of the crap service the dealer was giving, the service manager had handed his notice in and had called in sick. The mechanic was saying how many customers they had pis*ed off since they started doing Land Rover and Jag servicing together!
It seems everyone hs had enough and don't care anymore!
Anyway, got the car, drove it home, fitted 2 blanking plates in an hour for £10 and all is well!
Needless to say I won't be going there again! I'm running out of garages to try now withing 50 miles.

My 57 plate disco 3 was 9 months out of LR warranty when mine went. Spoke to my local Indy garage and got them replaced for £350 all in. I asked about refurbishing the old ones due to carbon build up but he advised against it as the computer readout indicated an electrical fault with them.
