Warranty is only 93k not 100k
My speedo and odometer are 7% out as checked on my GPS.
When my speedo says im doing 100kph im actually doing 93kph.
When the odometer says ive done 100km ive only done 93km.
So when ive done 100,000km ive actually only done 93,000km
Were getting robbed
Has this been planned by LR.....surely not Pete

I believe that the speed/distance can be re-calibrated using Testbook, although it wont change distance already recorded.
7% sounds a bit more than an 'acceptable' tolerance, are you running standard size tyres Norto? The End

Hi Norto,
Is your warranty about to expire because of distance or time. If time, the odo accuracy matters not. (My D3 warranty expires in July, it currently has under 54,000 km on the clock - not my fault, I bought it November last .)
Best Wishes,

Most speedos run out.
I understand its generally about 3 or 4%
Mine runs bang on.
ie. what it says on the gps is what it reads on the speedo.I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

You think that is bad, the Qashqai is 15% off and they say that is within specification. I only checked the speed, not the distance but I will check that now to see. If it is the distance as well, I will be on the phone to Nissan Monday as that cuts the warranty by 9K miles and the service interval by 1,800 miles

Victorian Speed Cameras "go off" at 5% over the plated speed limit.......
Now if that was in California there would be a class action either against manufacturer or The State.
Somehow I can't see Aussies being up for that tussle.

I did a 1600 mile run on a Merc Sprinter based camper from Portugal to S Wales a few years ago with a hand held GPS doing a distance log & true speed. Whilst the speed was always ~10% over reading, the odometer was only a km or so out. Just a thought!

My odometer is less than 1% out. checked against roadside speed check posts and a couple of GPS's. The speedo reads about 3% higher than actual.06 TDV6 SE with many LR and after-market extras. Used only on weekends and trips out west.

I believe that it is 3 kph over the limit; i.e. at 100 you are only allowed an extra 3 kph before the revenue
raising b ds sent you a speeding fine

Hi all,
see:
http://www.trafficlaw.com.au/speedos.html
for a well (even if they are lawyers!!lol) reasoned and what appears to be accurate summary of speedos and their accuracy and what the current law says in Australia.
It also specifically mentions Victoria as well as what would constituet a reasonable and honest defense BUT ONLY if you drive a new car (in warranty) with NO modifications (ie changed tyre size, etc) and get an engineers report to show your speedo is Under-reading.
The old 10% tolerance for speedos is out.

As my D3 is shod with 'slightly oversized' Cooper ST's the speedo (& therefore odometer) are absolutely 'bang on' with the GPS figuresSteve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
