Took our Disco to Stratstone Stourbridge today for the following pre-arranged warranty work -:
Rear PDC only works intermittently.
Handbrake sticks on. I've got to quite like the squeeling noise
Drivers lumber adjust broken inside seat. Lovely clanking noise when you lean against the back rest.
Software enhancement.
Picked it up tonight.........
Rear PDC? Oh it's a known problem. I need to order a new ECU. It will have to come back.
Handbrake? Yes, it needs a new shoe kit. It will have to come back
Do you see a pattern starting to emerge?
Drivers seat? Yes it needs parts for the lumber adjust. It will have to ........
Never mind I thought. I've got the software upgrade to look forward to. No more falling into the yawning void between 1st and 2nd gears
No sorry. We've got a problem with the new software, and we've stopped doing them.
Have the dealers stopped carrying any stock of frequently used parts, or are they using them faster than they can get them.
Oh well. Back on the 20th to have another go.
Discovery TDV6 S Silver
BMW Z3 Blue
MGB GT Red
Aston DB6 Blue
When it's good it's very good, but when it's broken I want my money back.

I've had the same problems with my local dealer (Oxford). They seem to keep no parts at all. I booked my RRS in for the rear brakes problem and faxed them the tech bulletin two weeks in advance and they agreed they will get the bits in for the job. Yes, it went in - they looked at it - then it had to go in again a week later when the got the bits in!
They don't even keep wiper blades in stock! They take 10 days to get them.
A different story at the Reading LR dealership. Eveything I have asked for they have had in stock, which includes a pollen filter, oil sump plug, tow bar electrics and the plasic lugs that hold the tow eye covers in place. I'm very impressed with them so far. Matt

Yep to Lancaster in Reading, they do seem to be one of the better dealers. That reminds me, must give them a call and get mine booked in for the enhancement, though I suspect I've got most of the updates already The End

Went to get a 5 amp fuse today, yup, you guessed it. Not kept in stock, will be posted out. Thankfully only 18p!

Slimer, do you know what loan cars Lancasters use?
Maybe I'll take mine there next time, as they are only about 10mins further than the Oxford dealer.
They've got some very nice cars to look at next door too. Matt

If I get a loaner it'll be a Freelander usually, but they're normally booked up 3 or more weeks in advance. 90% of the time I just use their collection and delivery service from my workplace which is only a few miles away, that way I can get the work done with only a few days notice The End

Hey what's new? Spare parts, "what are they the Service Centre" says
I asked for an Air Filter for my TDV6 and guess what after being almost sold the wrong one (lucky I knew what they looked like) I'm still waiting for them to tell me it's in. That was 4 weeks ago And this is a commonly used part - isn't it

But when I ordered the radio remote assembly for the steering wheel from Black Forest LR, they had it the next day! (And, an even bigger surprise, they fitted it for free!!)

what! If they bother to charge you that, they missed out on postage and packing - at least 29p for the stamp and 5p for an envelope.
At least my local dealer not only found a 15A fuse when the parts dept was closed, but also declined payment. Is better customer relations not worth 18p? Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana
