Washer Bottle Fuse
Could they have put fuse No11 in a worse place , oh yes they could, they could have put it where the spares are kept
Yep, you guessed it, mine packed up today and it was the fuse, It was probably cos they were frozen up when I tried to use them and as a safety measure blew the fuse. What I had trouble was trying to use the fuse removal tool and trying to get No11. In the end I used long nosed pliers to remove it and reach the low down spares.
What a lot of faffing about. Top design

Should have thought about it, totally away with the fairys when I replaced it
Could not agree more about location and access - what t t designs such things, particuarly the 6 spares that you do not stand a hope in hell of getting to . had to do this in the dark a few weeks ago but fitted a 15amp as LR now do.
Have you not got heated washer nozzles?? - if you ain't get them as its one of the best mods I have done
Keep smilin it can only get better

Took my HSE to Germany in January, nicely topped up with winter screen wash, only to later find that the normal low temp UK stuff (Halfords etc) is only good for -8. Don't know whether I have heated nozzles or not, but once the temp got down a bit, washers packed up and did not seem to be frozen at the nozzles, but generally cleared after a few minutes stopped with a warm engine. That was ok, but what wasn't, was after a few short journeys in temperatures of -14C or lower (with interesting bongs etc on startup each morning), washer pump was frozen solid, so instead of buzzing with nothing coming out of the nozzles, it helpfully blew the fuse. With the fuse in the stupid inaccessible place it is, dropped the silly plastic extractor and drove home 700 miles without washers - good job there was some snow at the roadside to smear over the window! Anybody know where you can get decent low temp screen wash in the UK ready for next such trip?

Simoniz is right -8 and below they do recommend using the stuff virtually neat, if not fully neat. I just replaced the fuse with the spare 10amp, so I guess I will repeat this all over again at some point.
Mine is a HSE, and does have heated nozzles, but still struggled on start up when I used them. Guess it was'nt enough time to defrost before using them

this happened me to. but when my washers went so did my rear wiper. careful not to go to high with the rating of the fuse, other wise you may cause damage to the motor as the fuse will need more current to blow. i've heard stories of wiper motors stripping their teeth and pumps burning out when frozen from higher fuses been fitted. but if LR have up-rated the fuse size to 15A them i'm sure its ok.

There is a simple solution to this - just don't use them when the temperature is very low
I got by for three years without issue until SWMBO tried to use them in the cold just before the old D3 went back - pop fuse blown Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Never blown a fuse on mine either.
If you can't hear the pump then leave the thing well alone as its FROZEN. Flick it now and again and DONT just keep your finger on the button or you WILL blow the fuse
Heated nozzels heat, well, er, the nozzles and not the whole system.
The wrong fluid mix is the cause not the fuse rating
