water in throttle intake!!! mysterious water leak
hi all
had a mysterious water leak for some time,no leaks underneath or steam /smoke etc car runs fine but i changed the alternator this week due to noisy bearings and when removing part of the intake where the sencor is i noticed water so i guess this is where the water is going.under heavy acceleration car has gone into limp mode also, just had to pull over and stand for a second then is fine again so presume all linked together, has anyone had this problem before?? if so whats the fault and the cure.
thanks for any help

it is possible the seal between the inner wing and the airbox hasnt seated properly - i had this and a new seal sorted the problem - i stuffed a plastic bag between the wing and the air box as a temporary measure. You should only get the problem if its been p g it down Duncan

Are you saying the water is in the ducting after the air filter box? Any water enterring before the filter box will drain out the bottom of the box. Water in the air pipes after the filter - not sure how that would get in? However, when was your fuel filter last changed? Limp mode after 'booting it' is often caused by a reduced fuel flow through the fuel filter, as I found out in lane 3 of heavy fast moving traffic!Previously:

hi
yes the water was in the intake manifold after the air box so therfore must be going into the engine which isnt good, the water must be going somewhere???,the fuel filter is on my to do list which will hopefully stop the limp mode problem but still doesnt explain the water in the intake, just wondered if a egr pump problem and no sign of leaks anywhere within the car
cheers
egr cooler leaking ?TLO has left the building.......

Mine went into limp mode, (engine fault) after taking a dunking so water into the air box can cause this. Suggest you make sure all the sealing is good between the wing and the outlet from the air box.
There is also a weak link that can let water in dowthe left side if the radiator, but that is well after the sensor.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
