webasco diesel heater
Are there any other conditions other than temperature that need to be fulfilled for the dieselheater to work? I'm skiing in France and it's below 5C every morning yet the heater
Doesn't activate? My friends here also travelled down in their D3 and its the same each morning for us both????
Cheers.

Unless you have the timer, it will only activate once you turn the engine on. They don't prewarm the engine without it.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
AFAIK, If the oat is below 5 C, the FBH should fire up, provided the coolant temperature is also below 75 C. I'm assuming you're talking about starting from cold first thing in the morning so I'd say yes, your FBH should be firing up. Are you absolutely sure it isn't? It takes a while to get going properly and from inside the car, you may not notice anything is happening.
It also won't start if for some reason it has had 3 failed starts. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the power supply to the FBH. To do this, turn off the ignition, remove the key and open the bonnet. Now go and have a cuppa whilst the car goes to sleep (radio display and park brake light go out). Now, locate fuse 28 (a 20 amp yellow one) in the fuse box on the passenger side of the engine bay and remove it. Check to make sure it hasn't blown. Leave it out for a few minutes then put it back. See if this does the trick. Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills

Correct.
One last, but necessary pre-condition:
The low-fuel indicator lamp must not blink.

it also won´t fire up if you had the OFF button pressed when starting the engine.
Although it will start once you switch to AUTO or ECON when OAT is +5 or below and coolant temp below 75 degrees.Life in the slow lane
Went through reset procedure today - did not read post correctly and was looking for fuse 28 20amp inside car
Was about to say fuse 28 had 5 amp in it then realised we should be looking in the engine fuse box
Anyhow all reset as I cannot recall mine ever working - just got to wait for the right conditions to test.
Thanks for the advice.

mine has never worked for as long as i've owned it. had it looked at today, returned no fault codes, had a fuel priming procedure run on it, it fired up right away. could it possibly have been airlocked? just waiting for the coolant to cool down to see if it will fire on its own. fingers crossed.

Hi everyone,
A few weeks ago, after an almost freezing night I started the engine to let it warm smoothly before driving.
As I was busy with the luggage I saw smoke getting out off under the engine.
I first thought that I broke something the day before while offroading...
After opening the bonnet I understood that a Webasto system has also started to help the engine get warmer faster. And that the smoke was getting off an exhaust pipe...
Actually, I don't know what I did to let him start.
I still discover something everyday with this vehicule... with the help of this forum
