However I can't find anything on my menu settings to control it - weird or not weird???

Not weird
Car will control it when ambient temp is less than 5c, however a FBH remote controller is a worthy mod available from Pete Bell at BAS,it allows you to turn it on manually with a supplied remote and it clears FBH faults too!

Darrell, you are truly the font of all knowledge in relation to Disco3's
Does this mean the car will preheat wether I want it to, or not?

@Albert0109:
The FBH is "automatic", that means that 4 criteria must be filled
1: Outside temperature lower than +5C (+4C)
2: Engine temperature below +75C
3: No faultcodes in heater.
4: Ample amount of fuel in the tank (no refuelling lamp)
When these criteria is fulfilled, the FBH will start on it´s own, and run until the temperature is up, and if it´s really cold outside, continue on a lower power setting to help the diesel engine to maintain a good working temperature.
When the FBH starts, and detects a problem, it shuts down, vents, and does another try.
It does this three times, and if the problem is still there, it stops, and You have to go to the "Webasto-man" to reset faultcodes..
If You on the other hand, has a BAS-remote for Your Webasto FBH, You can start Your FBH any time You like, even in tropical temperatures, just to make sure that it works..
You can clear faultcodes without meeting "Webasto-man" (keep dosh).
It is a really clever thing, I have one and it is easy to install, and very simple to use..
I had a FBH that had gone to sleep with faultcodes, so it didn´t work, I installed the FBH-remote,
and had a running FBH in no time at all..
Best regards

There's plenty of people on here with loads more D3 knowledge than myself, but i thank you for your comment
Yes with the BAS FBH controller you can use it via the remote regardless of ambient temp, engine temp etc,any time of year,as Maxarn58 already stated.

Hi All,
Is the anyway of testing if the FBH is working or sleeping and loaded with faults other then keeping a look out for it firing in low temps?
cheers

Remove the front grille, remove the external temperature sensor thats tucked behind the bumper and place it in the freezer for twenty minutes. Refit it and the car will think it's minus 20deg C.
If the FBH's working, youll soon find out
