"That over the weeks builds into a..." - This time of year.

They're back: the ads for magazines that come with things - but end up with a massive total after a year or so. Taxation on the gullible or unwitting.

First one: Warhammer Mortal Realms. First Issue £2.99, seventy-nine other issues @ £7.99 = £634.20. And that's for the 'standard' collection - you can upgrade for an extra £2 an issue!

Seems like a drop in the ocean compared to Disco ownership, if people are happy who cares what they spend their money on?

My youngest lad is into building the Warhammer models.

They are Stupidly expensive, so I'm not surprised at total cost of the magazines.

But you are right, you do see some of the adverts for say building a ship model over 3yrs and realise you could commision one cheaper.

That'd be the Bismarck one. 140 issues at £8.99 = £1,258.60 / two and a half years. In that time, I could almost finish painting our bathroom...

I bought this to keep me out of mischief and to get me out from under the feet. It cost me nearly 4 grand but worth every penny. I even use it to go into town and go on errands where i would have used my car. I can do 25 to 30 mile easily without being out of puff.
My goal is to ride from Burnley to Blackpool (When the weather gets better) which on the bike route will be about 50 miles or so Thumbs Up

Before embarking on an epic journey, just be aware of the range.
Most current emtb's will only do around 30 miles per charge.
And when the battery runs out and you've got some climbs to do, it's much harder on an emtb than a standard mtb (due to the extra weight).
I talk from experience - I've got a Specialized Levo Carbon "fattie" and I've had to get off and push up some gravel tracks that I'd normally pedal up.
It really is tough going (without power) if you don't plan accordingly, even just long gentle rises on tarmac.

But enjoy, it's definitely the way forward imo. Thumbs Up

Hey Ron, is it true that electric bikes don’t ‘harvest’ power on down hill sections?

No Gareth they don't, always thought they should though as technology exists, will probably come in time though.
You would think there may also be a USB port for charging your mobile, but there's not (well not on mine anyway), again that'll come (if not already on other makes).

Also, the battery takes a good few hours to charge from flat, so it's not an option to charge mid ride in a cafe etc, plus there's a bit of weight/size that goes with the charger.
A spare battery could be carried, but it's long and heavy, oh and the cost of a spare one is £700 (for my bike), so that's not an option.

Hence my recommendation of planning any journey well.

As the point of getting out on the bike is for exercise then why go electric assisted ?

i can see it in a road bike as anything that gets traffic off the road is a good thing but an electric off roader unless for disability reasons which would be fully justified i just dont get it
