Weird transmission whine
Car started making a weird noise a week or so ago.
It’s like you ve a roof rack on but from the transmission or a wheel bearing on its way but an ocatve higher.
Does it from 30 moh up, same in all gears, clutch in or out or in neutral. No worse in corners, under load or overrun
Any ideas?D3 2005 TDV6 7 Seat Zambezi Silver

I have the same symptoms atm.
Starting to think it’s coming from transfer case.
I suspect it is the bearing for the front output flange?
As the noise appears to become from the passenger footwell area.

DIY job?
I am suspecting by rear Diff is causing the same noise ?
I’m Going to pull it out in 3 weeks time, front diff was easy to remove, and presume rear diff will be the same, only difference i can see is the exhaust is in the way!

Quite easy job,
Timken bearings set required (around 180€)
half day job from open to close the diff
Check if you are equipped with E-diff in order to choose the right bearings set
Usually the bearings crown loose some particles...- Easy-Lift suspension module 4.0

Do you need to remove the dual exhausts, or will diff come out without removing exhaust system ?
