Hi guys and gals,
I'm looking into becoming a proud owner of a Disco 3 and I've read pretty much anything and spoken to about anyone.
However, I don't think there is a better place for the info about the D3 than this forum.
I have a somewhat specific case and I need your help on an already well-discussed topic. Yeah, I know, "search the forum". I reeeaaaaallly have and I loved every minute of it. More info on that in the topic I hope to start.

Newbie
Hey folks - just a quick hello. Accidentally bought a Disco 3 a few weeks ago as Mrs Peach has been on about getting one for years. I have to confess, I'm enjoying it more than her.
Lots done (fixed) already and much to do.
We now own 4 vehicles which we really don't need. I have an old BMW 650 sport, we have an old baby Jeep (nice quality plastic interior ) and a ancient Pug 306 called Kevin (I have no idea why).
I will I'm sure be searching every issue frantically, but so far, that there Internet has proven to be very helpful.
So, Hello!!!

Hello, and thank you!
So, in January, our family unit grew once more, and a seven seater was needed. I’d toyed for years with buying a Land Rover of some description as I drove past my local Indy garage (Simmonites in Thornton) and at The start of February took the plunge and forked out for a 60 plate Disco 4 from a non land rover chain which they’d taken in part ex.
I probably paid a bit over the odds, but it came with a decent warranty and a service book showing stamps all in good time and order, from a main dealer until It was taken to green oval in Leeds, which having spent some time on here seems to be a good garage.
I’ve browsed on here for hours, trying to learn a bit and it has helped, initially with buying advice and then with service/repair/diagnostic help.
Anyway, I’ve suffered my first breakdown and it feels like I’ve popped my disco cherry. Thankfully the garage I bought it from are sorting out a new fuel injector and I now feel qualified to post rather than just browse!,
Anyhow, here’s to my new obsession, and the people on here who share their knowledge to absolutely non mechanically minded people like me. What is it people say, owning a Land Rover takes away a driver and gives you a mechanic!

Hi All
I Have just joined after putting down a deposit on a 2010 D4 HSE, i have been lurking a while researching etc but thought it time to sign up and say Hi. I cant wait to collect it at the weekend and start work on it.
I have a few plans for it in preparation for Green laning and some camping trips and taking my homemade teardrop trailer on a few more adventurous trips. I have ordered a few bits already and will start a build thread once the ball is moving.
Anyway Hello All

High Mileage buying advice
Hey everyone,
Thanks for having me. I've owned a Series 3 109 ex-mod (1976) and a Defender 110 Utility (2014) in the past. I've been offered a 2008 Discovery 3 SE that has been run by my mechanic for the last 6 months. He's done the handbrake and the suspension compressor and has sorted the parking sensors, all with original parts. It's done 162000 miles. The last 60k of which I know have been long trips from Wiltshire to Scotland. Its keenly priced. He lives in the same village as me so I trust him. Should I let the mileage worry me? Almost impossible question to answer I know but I was hoping for some gut feeling from you lot.
Thanks in advance
C

Welcome all
Ch55lie - my opinion is that if that car has been well looked after and well maintained then mileage is not an issue. These cars will run and run, there are cars on here with over 200k on the clock
JohnH1099 - you do know that once you start fixing things the list will just grow and grow
Dan_W - don't forget to post photos and good luck with your mods Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector
Limo Tint
Blackvue front & rear dashcam
Cruise control switch pack
Bodsy's remote for FBH
