Well it lasted a week before breaking.....
As some may be aware I bought a 2010 D4 full dealer service history and one owner.
It hasn’t broken down as such but is making an awful squealing / screeching noise from 1750rpm onwards, is this a known fault?
I took the serpentine belt off thinking it was maybe the alternator bearings but the noise remains. Is this a known fault or has anyone experienced it before?
Any ideas welcome
Cheers
Dave
P.s. the Rev counter needle is no longer illuminated. Can’t quite work that one out either!

Rev counter, known led fault. Mine does it. Screech could be turbo failing. I know the tdv8 suffered this. Hope not tho in your case as the tdv6 may not suffer the same.
The knowledgeable people will be along soon

1750rpm is going to be when the turbo starts to make real boost pressure, so ignore belt and start looking for a boost leak, ie hose/hose clip/split intercooler, basically anywhere air can squeal out of, just like when you whistle.

I have had a similar problem before on my 110 and that was a blown manifold to turbo gasket. Can you actually get to this area? I have been told that the turbo is a body off job, would it be the same for the gaskets and things?

Yes- through auctions It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

It was an independent dealer, not specialist but did have 6 month warranty with it so I’m waiting to hear back from them.
I guess I need to have a idea what it is first as I could do without being without the vehicle for a long period of time as I am using it every day for commuting

By the way. Do you have a V8 or a TDV6?
Looked at your gallery. To me it looks as you have MY2012 with the rotary knob gearchanger.

It’s a 3.0 2010 TDV6. I stopped at an independent garage and it’s going in to have a smoke test next week and then further diagnosis if needed.
He thinks it’s an air leak somewhere but hasn’t ruled out the turbo. Thankfully I spoke to the dealer and they’ve agreed to pay it
