What's going on here with the front hub?
After a trip from Edinburgh to London and back, I noticed that there was an oily stain round the centres of both front wheels. Driving was mostly sedate with only an hour or two of quite high speed progress-making.
I suspect the car had had an easy life before I acquired it.
So, what is going on. Bearings getting hot and oozing a small amount of (molten) grease? Something else sinister? Should I worry?

Maybe the wheel has been off for one reason or another and the mech has greased the hub/wheel faces?

Wheel was off 4k miles ago for new tyres. This oily stain is new - but then I've never driven a long way in a oner before in this car.D1 300Tdi - gone
