I want to love my D3, and thought that I was doing right getting one last April (2005 TDV6 SE). After three days of ownership, a dreaded EGR valve failed. Two months later, the clutch needed replacing (Plate, cover and DMF after 45,000 miles!). Last week, the suspension compressor started not working properly, but good old LR haven't got any - they're on back order!
Fortunately, most of the problems have been sorted under LR warranty, with a small contribution towards the clutch being made by me. However, after seven months and that number of faults, I'm losing faith.
I'm not new to LR products, indeed I learned to drive (and took my test) in a 1971 12-seat series 3, and have had two older Range Rovers, to say nothing of the ones my father has owned, including a new Freelander 2 HSE with which he's highly delighted. However, after a break of ten years or so (and generally trouble free other makes) what have I done?

A real lack of go as stated (under 2500 rpm), and some smoke, although I've seen a lot worse. Guessed at by me, and confirmed by the Dealer.
The clutch was a really strange one though. I was towing at 55-60 mph in 6th and pulled out to overtake an LGV. At the same time I changed down into 5th. It was as though it had not gone into gear as the revs shot up. At the same time a warning came up "Park Brake Fault". I then droped into 4th and the drive was back. All seemed ok, except for the Park Brake warning light, and every time I slowed for a junction, the revs would dip almost to stall, and then rise to about 1200 and repeat. The gear indicator on the dash was very slow too. When I got home the parking sensors didn't work. There was no clutch slip at all.
I contacted the Dealer who said "it's the clutch". I didn't believe what I was hearing but bless them, they were right - I saw the parts! New clutch fitted and all was working again.
The suspension started last Saturday night when I pressed the lever to put the car into access height, and there was an awful screeching sound from the compressor area. I switched everything off, and restarted. All appeared normal until I raised the suspension again, and the front was very slow to come up, with a message "suspension raising slowly". There are no leaks etc, and the car rides normally, but once again, diagnosed as being a clapperred compressor.
