wheel bearing

been changing completely shot front wheel bearing and what a bitch it was to take it off the knuckle but to my surprise

big old kitchen knife is the best tool I find to split it from the knuckle and than use big flat head screwdriver to pull it out completely

my missus idea Whistle

I tried everything in the book to remove mine, hammer, bread knife, chisel even a flat screwdriver. Then my wife came up with a good idea " try a blank cheque" she said you tight Censored and it will do the trick, it worked fine and I never got a drop of oil on my hands... Whistle

Does anyone know the SKF (or similar) bearing reference number for D3 front wheel bearings?
LR price is £600+ for four. They should be about £10 each from a bearing specialist... 2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

Thanks for the response and the link.

I don't know enough to be confident but the thinking this end is that, with the bearing reference number, a specialist bearing company like Millennium in Lichfield can be a lot cheaper again. Maybe not but it has worked well as a plan for my brother and his 110.

You can only try...

It irritates me that a Coventry dealer quoted £375+VAT for a 110 front caliper (AP) and a local seller does the same for £110 (inc VAT). But sometimes you just have to take the hit. 2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

The difference between a Defender and D3/4 wheel bearing is that you can buy just the actual bearing for a Defender, for about £10-15.

The D3/4 one is only available as a hub assembly, even from aftermarket suppliers. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
